Totally Tubular vs Boxxy

Welcome to the fourth edition of the Model of the Year Contest. This year's lame title is Totally Tubular vs Boxxy.

What this means is that you have to build a K'Nex roller coaster totally out of tube supports or box supports, not a combination of both. And there are no exceptions. Besides that, there are no limitations on pieces.

What models can I enter?
Only one model may be entered per user. Only models that are currently under construction or have not yet begun construction may be entered.

When is it due?

Entries must be submitted by September 1st, 2009.

How are the winners determined?
There will be two winners in this contest, one tube coaster and one boxy coaster. The ultimate winner of the two finalists will receive $50 over Paypal. The runner up will receive $25 over Paypal.

All of the winners will be chosen by myself. We have determined that this is the best course of action with the biases that have been created by the creation of companies.

What am I looking for?

In the models that I am going to pick to win, I am going to look for a couple things. First is the layout. If the layout isn't impressive, your model is not going to win. Secondly, I am looking for the creative touches that set your model apart. These touches include theming and innovative features that add a certain uniqueness to your model.

If you have any questions, please ask them. But if it is a question that is already answered above, it is just going to be deleted.

Wait, If I were to make a tube supported coaster, could I use boxes with theming?

For the totally tubular part, we can't use boxes for the lift, station, or MCBR?

Re: Totally Tubular vs Boxxy

A box support may be used to hold the track on the lift. However, vertical tube supports must hold it up. The supports for the track in the station must be tubular. The actual station and any other themeing can be whatever shape.

What's the entry policy with this and Top Models? (Which can we enter twice and not enter?)

If you lose the MOTY, you can enter your MOTY entry into the Top Model that immediately follows MOTY.

Would Mt. Doom Work? I'm theming it with the tube supports showing, but the box supports hiding. Would it work?

Do these (on the right) :

Count as Tube Supports? Also, are there any limitations on footers?

Re: Totally Tubular vs Boxxy

Alright what if my station is box supports, considering most are, and my coaster is tube supports? It is hard, and would look stupid, to have a station that is tube supported. Please tell me this is an exception...

^That is exactly what he doesn't want...

If I finish up Furius in the next 2 weeks (which I hope I do, it's pissing me off) I'll enter my next coaster.

Re: Totally Tubular vs Boxxy

So can we use scenery with Box supports, but have it be tube supports outside of the scenery? (Refers to what Mt. Doom will look like in the future).

Re: Totally Tubular vs Boxxy

Duelers are allowed.

VV is allowed as long as the supports meet the criteria.

A rule clarification: The station can be made of box supports.

No tube lateral supports.

DDRman, I would consider those tube supports.

I think this answers most of what has been asked.
