Project GILA

This projects mission is to build 4 different coasters, each type is represented by the first letter of the coaster type in the name GILA. These coasters will also push the boundaries of what was once thought possible to be done with K'nex, and may be some of the most amazing coasters you've ever seen. (well at least from me)

Your mission is to help guide the project on the right course and to help make each of these coasters the best that they can be, no matter how long it takes.

It is now time for GILA to be unleashed, and it's starting off with a bang...

Every Friday I'll post a picture update, then every Monday I'll reply to your comments.

I see a weak connection about 2/5ths down the drop.

I think the drop gets to the steepest point too quickly, then the pull out starts too high. Maybe extend the crest a gray or two and draw out the drop.

I say make the crest wider. Other than that your okay.

^You got the first two right...

It looks very nice, but there are a few weak connections. The one DDRman said, and one where the lift supports attach to the main column. The pullout is slightly to stretched out near the top, so you could make that a bit tighter and that would also make your drop's steepest point lower. If you fix those it will look amazing, I can't wait to see how the rest of the layout turns out!

I should also mention that one of the coasters will be a re-cre. I'm not saying which one though.

As for this first coaster, I suppose I should mention that this won't be a Intamin Giga coaster, but a B&M Giga coaster with a few of my own personal bits in it.

So hopefully that explains why the drop looks the way it does, but I'll still let you guys decide upon that.

FRIDAY Update #2:

Well not much work was done over the past week due to school and swimming starting back up, but I did get a tiny bit of work done. I basically just made the drop a little less steep and had it stay at its steepest point a bit longer. Construction should pick up a bit once I get Aquiix's final video done. Oh and I decided to make one of Aquiix's turns incorrectly banked.

The drops perfect, except it looks like the end of the pullout could be more curved, it looks kinda straight.

No offense, but this update on friday with one stupid picture and then you comment on Monday is just really annoying. The drop looks really wierd btw. The pullout is too long and the start of the drop looks bad.

I know this is minor, but on the last pic it looks like the coaster is very slightly banked outward... doesnt matter though.

I have to agree with him, it's a bit annoying.

Drop is nice and steep, but the end of the pullout is a bit straight.

How do you keep that yellow rod base from tipping? my coastser is half that size and my lift keep falling over and hitting me in the head.
Oh yeah and whats an accelorator coaster?

I think updating on a friday is a very good idea. Then I always know if there's an update. If you haven't done anything during the week just don't update until next week.

lilmikemarian: The bottom of the drop isn't fully supported, and I went back and fixed that up over the weekend anyway.

LCAL: The reason I'm updating like this is so that the thread stays alive and I can get the most critique on the coaster's as posible.

spoofa: That turn is on Aquiix and is supposed to be like that.

CoasterManiac: Strait spot has been fixed.

B&M Krazy: I have laterals on the base. And an accelerator is an Intamin Launched coaster.

Well sorry for no pictures, but I've been working on the final video for Aquiix. Sadly I've got to re-shoot the video because there are to many dropped frames. Construction should pick up once I get the video done.
