Okay Here are some pics.

The 40 footers top speed determined by the high speed camera was at 85 MPH achieved by surgical rubber tubing.

We decided to call it, The Particle Accelerator.

I am So happy to have the record now and I hope It will stand for a long time.

I'm going to have to measure my house now, build a coaster that has a cable lift (CP-Ephy had a good idea, just needs improvement) and call it the tallest, roughest, and crappiest knex coaster in the world now!

Three problems...

1. It's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to skinny. You should have put the track on the outside of the supports, the ones that taper inwards, instead of the inside. It should also have been at least three times wider as well.

2. The twists are way too small. Too much straight, not enough twist.

3. Most importantly, the pullup/out are way too small. they should be about a third the height of the tower. Once again, too much straight, not enough pullup/out.

Also, I know exactly where that is!

I agree with rollerdude. IMO KNCC's is better than this. The pullup(or out) should be atleast half the height of the coaster as rollerdude said. I know from personal experience. I built my pullouts to small on TopHat and lost a TON of speed...

Nit-picky you guys are. They discussed the space constraints long ago, and obviously had an allotted time to get it done in. They planned as best they could, but it's had to fathom something this big until its built. A 12-15 foot pullout is at least that same distance out from the ride, plus additional launch space...alot of room no doubt. I'm hats off to them for pulling it off as well as they did...both times (33 and 40). Ridiculous speed and height. Nice work...

Oh no not at all. I don't have a problem with you at all. It's the skinniness/design of the coaster. I HATE IMC. As a person, not as a coaster.

I Think I could have made It wider than yours but I had a set deadline to finish this thing when I don't believe you had one. I work on this for like 4 months when you 8.

I also agree. Just to see something so huge built out of knex is a feat in itself. And, its not like it broke the record by a foot or two. Sure, it's not perfect, but that doesn't stop it from being amazing.

its absoulutley incredible that you can reach a heigh tlike that... its insane!
but as a coaster, i like KNCC's model better because it is more realistic, but i am not getting down on the particle accelerater, congrats

I did have a deadline that's why I only had a tower. And if mine didn't get wrecked by kids at my school and weekend indoor soccer leagues I would've made mine better than it was. But the monstrosity this is is not what I'm deissing, it is an incredible feat, but I wish that with the unlimited pieces you had and hieght it could've been more.

I had 5, October 6, 2005 to February 28, 2006 for one. And two, mine was not protected, I started over 3 times because of the people who broke it.

I think its amazing. About the width, people dont seem to realize how many parts it takes to stretch it one! red rod either way all the way up the tower. To make it realistic, it would have had to be insanely wide and probably take *atleast* twice the pieces. I doubt that wouldve worked...
