Cool [F&F Presents]:Unnamed Update-Loop

Well, I decided to POSTPONE Ansion. I just don't have the kind of pieces it takes to make a coaster that large.
Since I have to post pictures as per the rules... here ya go! I love these sorts of pictures!

Anywho, Eclipse will be a 4-ish foot looper. I have part of a layout in mind. I will hopefully be able to update tomorrow.

Re: Eclipse

Update!
Ansion, may you rest in pieces (until I resurrect you someday) :

^that is my little "crane"^

Eclipse:

Some of you may have noticed the interesting lift structure. I did this mainly for innovation. I wanted to see if I could make a lift without the tower in the middle. As you can see, all I have done is a bit of tracking on the lift and crest, although the last few pictures kind of reveal what's to come. How is my crest/pullin?

It looks pretty nice, but you have way too much structure on the lift. You'll run out of pieces fast. Although, it is interesting.

CAC is right, you have a lot of unnecessary support structure (especially toward the right of the 2nd-to-last pic). It looks good though, and I'm pretty sure i know what's coming next.

Sure it's innovative, but it's not practical. A lift with a tower in the middle creates a large triangle, which is basically a perfect shape for a lift.

I have no clue why you go so big when you don't have that many pieces.

Re: Eclipse Update! Pullin, lift, and crest

If I were you, I'd start out smaller... Your lift is 5 greys tall if I'm correct, and It would have been better to start with like 3 greys...3.5 at the greatest..but hey! It's your coaster...

Yeah, well, if you meant start out smaller for experience, I've built like 5 VVs and got lots of SS experience with Ansion. but thanks anyway!

Update! tell me how you think it looks!

Next is an immelmann, followed by a loop around the lift. I have lots of time to build as it is Christmas break and we have (and will have) a blizzard raging outside for 2 days (in either direction).

POV plox. Nice and smooth predrop. A tad too much structure on the lift as stated above.

Hmm, thought I had a couple? I'll look at it, but I made sure to heartline it.

Thanks, I think I'll change it.

Update! I have most of the drop shaped, but not a whole lot supported.

a couple POV's

And a straight on shot:

As I have said, I'm not too happy with it. I can't put my finger on it, but something looks weird. Help?

EDIT: I just noticed that the predrop/overbank thingy looks great in some pics and horrible in others. Should I change it?

I think it looks fine. By pov I meant the crest. That's where you lack heartlining..but I then again it'a probably minor...

What? Why would the crest need heartlined?

Re: Eclipse Update-Partial Drop

The reason why it looks weird is because of the heartlining you have on the drop. Heartlining is really tricky, and it requires A TON of experience. If you look at a B&M drop, you will notice that there really isn't any heartlining in the pull outs. Instead, they kinda "roll out" of the turn, or in a different explanation, they loose the banking as the turning part widens out and stops. On Knex, doing this on 135 degree turning drops is extremely difficult (even harder on yours) and is easier on 180 or 225 turns. Here's a picture that I think will help you understand my explanation.

Update! (kinda)
I think I fixed the drop:

Keep in mind that I haven't supported a few spots yet. I have decided that I am going for a B&M Floorless feel.

Aww crap LOL. I didn't mean the crest, I meant the predrop part isn't heartlined. Sorry for the confusion. I like the new drop though.

Re: Eclipse Update-Partial Drop

I'd like to see the turning more gradual as it went down the drop instead of all right at the top, but it's still nice the way it is. The side view in the first picture looks great though!

^ about the sideview...
if you look where the lift is supported, is that a strait spot on the drop? (behind the lift supports)
Fix that and you are Golden

If you look up the page a ways, you can see the picture that Kevin (pkiknex25) posted as a reference picture for me. I modeled my drop after that.

Update! I perfected my drop. I also fixed the sharp spot that Brennan pointed out.

As good of a side view I can get without supports in the way:

And a POV:

(Ignore the bump at the end, it's unsupported)

EDIT: just noticed a slight bump in the middle of the drop. Fixing!
