During the summer of 2013 Dutch Details discovered a new locking mechanism and decided to use it for an automatic K'NEX drop tower. A year later, after a lot of experimentation, the K'NEX drop tower called Apocalypse was finished and moved to K'NEX Adventure Land! One push of the button and all three carriages are lifted up to the top of the drop tower. Engaging and disengaging of the carriage to the catch car is automatic. Elastic tubing is used to absorb the carriage's kinetic energy when it comes down the tower.
