Great Hurricane
Video

Description The year was 1929, in the heart of the golden age of roller coasters. This was driven by the success of roller coasters as the Thunderbolt, the Tornado, and of course, the Coney Island Cyclone. One classic that was not recognized was The Great Hurricane. Often considered “the cousin of the Terrifying Triplets”, The Great Hurricane was modeled after the three titans. The downfall of this behemoth was the location. The Great Hurricane was too distant for thrill seekers to compute. Although just as terrifying as the others, The Great Hurricane only lasted two seasons before shutting down.

For decades, the structure was standing but not operating. However, local entrepreneur H. G. Traverse recently purchased The Great Hurricane and has restored her to her original glory. Manifest destiny blessed the coaster in her new life. Glimmering paint, shiny new bulbs, and replaced beams rejuvenated this masterpiece. Now, climb aboard the train and experience The Great Hurricane.
