what about royal purple Maxfilm spray lube. it drys and leaves behind a dry film lube. i sent an e-mail to the manufacture to see if it is ok on plastic.

No! You dont want to put it on plastic! ONLY the metal axels. If it is applied to the wheels, they will slide on the track and not go anywhere. As for the stuff you're using, I don't know.

I'm sure he knows that. But have you ever thought about that the wheels are plastic and that the axle is metal? There are tons of lubricants that do not work with plastics, and trust me you don't want to ruin your wheels.

yes i know only lube the axles but the lube still gets on the axle side of the wheels. that was why i was asking.

maxfilm is a liquid spray lube that when it dries out leaves behind a a dry film lube

Hmmm... sounds reasonable. I guess you could try it. And I think I misunderstood you. Yes, it is supposed to touch the inside of the wheel. That's what reduces the friction. I just thought you meant the outside. My bad :P

Because it is a penetrating lubricant I suspect the solvents used are going to be tough on plastics. Anything that can eat through rust can probably eat through plastic. Let us know if you hear back from them.

Comet Recreation still underway.

Good Morning Jon,

No, it will not. And, most of the liquid will flash off, leaving a very robust additive package offering an incredibly strong oil film. Should be a little less attractive to particulates than a typical spray lube.

Make sure to shake the can well before every use and hold the can as upright as possible when spraying.

Thanks for choosing Royal Purple and have a great day!

Best Regards,

If I was you, I wouldnt use either one of them, because those are pretty heavy oil. What I use is Pennzoil 5W-20. I was told not to use anything heavier than 5W-20. But, if you dont feel like paying a few more dollars for something like what I have, I'm sure you could just use one of them oils. I'm not exactly which one you should use though.

Is it better to take the car apart and then clean them or is it the same effekt if I don't take it apart and clean it?

This tutorial is very helpful. I always had the misconception that you lube the track and the wheels instead of the axle. Thank you so much for your tips, and I look forward to utilizing this method on my next coaster.

Do you think clock oil would work? There are some precision oilers on Amazon pre-filled with the stuff.

I have taken the tip of a graphite pencil and colored the rod on the inside that those grey flanged plastic pulley wheels rotate on and it made my roller coasters much faster.
