Many people seem to be having trouble uploading images and posting them. I will explain you how to upload images and post them on the forums.

First make an account at a photo uploading website. I use Photobucket.com

Step 1:
Go to Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket and create an account.

Step 2:
Press the upload button in Photobucket. This will give you a screen where you can select the photos/images. Locate your images and click them (press and hold ctrl and click multiple if you want to upload more at once.) Then press the "open" button in the screen. The images will start uploading.

Step 3:
Once the images are done uploading you will be taken to a page where you can name your photos, add descriptions or add tags. This is not necessary but you can do so if you like. When you are done press the "Save" button at the bottom of the page.

Step 4:
Your photos are now uploaded to Photobucket, you will be taken to your album. Keep this page open for the time being.

Step 5:
Go to your photo you uploaded. Somewhere underneath the photo it says "IMG Code" Highlight the text next to it and copy it. (ctrl+c or right mouse -> copy)

Step 6:
Go to your post on sscoasters.net and put your cursor where you want your photo to be. Now paste the code you copied before. (ctrl+v or right mouse -> paste) It should look like this in your post:


Step7:
Submit your post, it will show an image!



You can post many pictures in one post. If a picture is too big for the website to handle it will be resized to the appropriate size and it can be seen full-size if you click the yellow bar above it.

If you find a picture on a web page you can also post it by right clicking on the picture and selecting "View Image" then simply copy the url from that page and post it between the [img] tags.

Drop the .html the image link ends with .jpg or .jpeg.

I don’t think photobucket still do free imagehosting. Could someone help me find a new way or a different site please?

Hi Coasterking, have you got any existing accounts on sites already?

I use imgur.com for most of my image hosting - and the process is simple!

1. Visit imgur.com

 

2. In the top right, press Sign up

 

3. Follow the forms and create an account (this might include verifying your email!)

 

4. In the top left press 'New Post' 

 

5. Select the images you want to upload - at this point it is worth mentioning that you probably want to ensure they are compressed as much as possible to avoid long upload times. I would expect a standard picture taken with a phone to be between 2-6 MB. 

 

6. Upload them!

 

7. Give your post a title, add tags if you want people to be able to find it - I recommend adding sscoasters as a tag!

 

8. Click Hidden/To Community to change it's privacy setting, if you select Hidden we will only be able to view it via a direct link, if you select To Community, it will show up on the homepage (Check there's nothing private or sensitive in the images before posting to Community, for example a parcel with your address on it!)
 

9. To find your image, click your username in the top right, and select the 'All' tab. 

 

10. Click the image(s) you wanted to share with us, and when they open up full-window, right click the image and click "Copy image address"

 

11. To post to SSCoasters, when typing a post click the little image icon above the text box (it looks like a Polaroid to me) and insert the copied URL!
