It looks extremely conservative! But it's missing a bunch of diagonals that could help support it - if only they were possible with your design. I hope you don't get confused trying to replicate the pattern throughout a ride.

I think there are quite enough diagonals in this base, actually. ^
It should come in very handy with your tube supports, just make sure to stagger the rods in the tubes. If you don't know what I mean, looking up some SSC tutorials might help. :)

I've done this before with yellow/granite rods. Fairly sturdy, but if you need half moons and the chosen rods later, you may end up short.

I think that, although it is piece efficient, it will not be very effective due to the fact that there are no diagonals on the X-axis. Adding diagonals on the X-axis would be possible only if you have a lot of those special orange connectors that allow for those kinds of connections. I guess you could turn the pattern diagonally when needed, however, this may not exactly work for more compact layouts.

I'm not done building yet.

Good alternative if you ran out of 3D connectors. The cross-diagonal laterals is something Gump perfectioned on Looping Star back in the day and I've adopted that same technique for all my rides. It's stupidly sturdy. Which is kind of important if you move rides around as much as we do ;)

Although this structure misses diagonals in one plane, these are hardly necessary for regular purposes. This is exactly what I had in mind for a Koloss revamp.

No, I built that for the 2013-2014 winter contest.
