Looks pretty good I would suggest making the over bank a little but taller possibly cause its hard to tell what the height loss is right now form the photos. I want to see the cable lift working so get that fixed and such soon!

Thanks! I'm a little bit of a perfectionist when I comes to things like this. This is incredible. You nailed all the smoothing techniques and come out with an awesome shape. I wish all of my rides were that smooth.
Thank you! This looks really, really cool and good to me! Im looking forward for more updates!
I really wanted to make sure there was little to no shaking. It took a couple of tries, but I got it!Oh snap, that pullout is really well supported.
Thanks! I'm trying my best to make solid footers. I think what I have it pretty good and hopefully there will be minimal shaking. And as for the cable lift, I'm still trying to find a power source and nxt. But I'll definitely show you guys when I'm done! This looks promising, shaping is spot on so far and it looks like it won't wobble at all . I'm very curious about how you're cable lift is going to work exactly, make sure to show us the details on that !
I still have to lube/weigh my trains and I'll test it after the fury 325 tur- I've said too much .Looks pretty good I would suggest making the over bank a little but taller possibly cause its hard to tell what the height loss is right now form the photos. Well it's been awhile! I apologize for not making much progress, as I've been sick for the past few days and couldn't do much. Also I have school until June, so don't expect much from now until then. But here's what I've done:
-banked the valley a bit more
-reshaped the whole overbank
-added better footers
-strengthened/straightened the lift/supports.
-and added a spine the the overbank.
Anyways, here are some pictures!

I look forward to seeing some killer airtime hills later in the layout

I feel like I have seen the start of this layout somewhere before but i just can't put my finger in it... Looking great! I, too, am looking forward to killer (figuratively, of coarse) airtime hills in this thing!
EDIT: WOO! 900 posts!!! (1,000 will be a bigger milestone though)

If you end up getting a NXT, I'd highly recommend also buying the rechargeable battery pack so you can leave it plugged in and not have to worry about chewing through AA batteries. I think the NXT motors should be strong enough for a cable lift on their own as long as your train isn't weighted too heavily.
I like that your supports are connected to both the top and bottom of the base, those must be really strong connections.

I plan on using a 5 car train with 5 pennies in each car. Would that be too much?I think the NXT motors should be strong enough for a cable lift on their own as long as your train isn't weighted too heavily.

That should be fine, as long as there isn't too much friction in the cable lift. You can use 2 of the NXT motors on the lift if you need more power. The advantage with using the NXT's servo motors is that they'll return to the exact same position at the top and bottom of the lift, so the programming is super easy.

I'd like to see some high-speed twists and airtime, too, if you're planning to make it entirely with hills.

About the cable lift; good luck! I've just given up on mine and it had a similar cable guide to yours using the micro chain. Unfortunately there was too much friction for mine to work and the winding drum for my cable kept giving up. One tip I have is to use dental floss as the cable as it has little friction on the parts, isn't really noticeable and is very strong (I chose that as it you can pick up for 10m+ for a matter of 70 pence - about a dollar).
Anyway good luck and keep up the fantastic building!

The base and track look strong, can we get a test video when the over bank is complete next update??
