After a long break, I finally got my priorities right, causing me to not have much time with K'nex. With school ending, I have had some time to build lately, and this came out. I am building a stand-up coaster with a box supported lift, while the rest is tubed.

A nice picture for you guys.

For once, the pics are not sideways! hallelujah!

Opinions are appreciated. :rfro:

I think it looks great too... I need some of those lights for sure, my basement takes pretty bad photos.

That lift setup looks very tidy I have to say (although I am comparing it to the mess that I make when I'm building so most things look neat to me, but this is still very nice). The image quality for the photos is also refreshingly sharp. Seems that the lighting can make a huge difference. Looking forward to this one.

I also look to see where this goes! I have no layout plans, and I am going where I feel like.

Thanks! The funny thing is that I just borrowed these from my mom, who does a lot of Etsy and Pinterest projects.

Haha. Thank you! :D

Update - June 12th

After I posted this, I got right back to building, and I completed the lift! Along with that, I fixed the gear structure.

Neat lift. Nice and strong. Judging by your commitment to this, I would assume you've started the next elements by now :D

It looks good to me, I don't see any issues with the lift so far. The lift looks strong too! Can't wait to see more!

That pre-drop looks really steep. If you made it more gradual, it would look much better. IMO.

I like your chain setup. Is the whole thing going to be box supports? Or will it be tube supported after this. About the predrop, I think it's fine how it is, but I think it goes out pretty far. It depends on how big you want the whole thing to be.

Yes, this isn't cancelled. ;)

Hey all, just a verbal update here. It's been a while huh? You thought this was cancelled? I'm just messing with you. :P Anyway, I would like to acknowledge that I have been really lazy lately. (Sad rainy weather in Oregon makes me want to stay in bed and not build. How do you do it, UK users?) I took the coaster into pieces, and took pictures, as I will rebuild later. I am keeping my crest and motor box. Basically, I am postponing this until Summer Heat is over, oh well. Anyway, I am keeping my word and I will participate in summer heat this year. Currently I am in Alabama, so I guess the "summer heat" got to me, and now I am inspired to build! (eek)

Oh yeah I might need ideas for the contest. :P

Edit: well shit that didn't work

Good to know you're keeping this one going - it looks promising! Hopefully you'll be changing your member title soon ;) (How do you edit that btw?)

As for my motivation, well, you've just been spoiled by all that nice weather you get ;).  Since my expectations are naturally very low, it's not depressing when the weather is normal and when it miraculously improves I actually tend to build less as I spend more time soaking up those precious rays.

My god, it’s been a year and a half since the last update! I told you it wasn’t cancelled. :P I’ve reconstructed the lift, it’s a bit higher now and is very stable. The location of the coaster is my mother’s sewing room, which is only for now. I’ve made a new break run and station, which I think is cool. What do you guys think?

Since the photos taken I have added a chain to the lift. If anything is screwed up or sideways blame my phone. Comment!

Nice style on the lift and station. The setup looks a lot cleaner and more efficient than before but my word, has it been a while lol. The dust on your boxes is very telling.

Thanks for the comments! Can’t reply to all on mobile. :(

Update time! Right after last update I began work on the drop and moved it downstairs. I’ve fiddled with a curved drop and the shaping sucked so I stuck with a Medusa-ish drop. I’ve made the layout a bit more compact as pieces are starting to become an issue. Not a big one, but I can’t overdo anything. Here are the pictures of the Predrop and drop I’ve made.

Looks pretty good so far! The supports for the lift hill are very aesthetically pleasing, and the pre-drop looks nice. It's hard to tell without a view of the side, but I think the pullout may be a bit small.

I noticed you've got some bare wheelbases on that train. Will you be putting custom toppers on there?
