Madness will be a TOGO looping wild mouse with

- Vertical Loop

- (possible) Corkscrew

- Automated Station with station gates

- Micro Chain lift hill with catwalks

- Altered Coaster Car

- Hairpin Turns

- Hairpin Drops,

- Convenient lift hill assembly (The motor will be placed at a convenient location and a series of axles, chain and gears will transfer power to the chain drive).

- Addition things (no ideas just yet).

Below are photographs of my current progress.

Pic 001 shows the top of chain lift assembly. The chain that is going vertical is being used to transfer power from the motor which is located elsewhere (for convenience). I have used Micro Chain as I personally think it looks better than the traditional SS Chain.

(I am sorry for the quality of this image). This shows hairpin drop (on right) followed by straight track (will be a brake), hairpin turn left, straight track (station), down curve left (towards lift) and bottom of the lift.

Shows one of the hairpin turns (yet to be completed), train enters track (from top) and exits (below).

Another shot of where the station will be. Also shows bottom of lift better.

Bottom of the lift.

Lift axle assembly. Motor is at edge of ride (more convenient location).

Progress will be updated as and when I can.

Ah yes. A good old Togo wild mouse crazy looper thing. Probably some of the smoother Togos actually.

A long with Ultra Twisters! I am thinking about building one in the future.

That's a long way off though.

Hello SSCoasterFanatics!

I have some updates to share with you.

Firstly, I had to demolish my coaster since my friend was staying over. It has been rebuilt now.

Secondly, the loop has almost been completed. (it looks weird - well it is based of a TOGO after all).

Thirdly, I have done the coaster layout using RCT3 (Rollercoaster Tycoon 3). It is not 100% accurate due to the game's limitations; it is only there to give a good representation of the layout.

Below is the layout.

Below is the ride as it is now

Attached File  GOPR0230.JPG   112.07KB   1 downloads

The bizarre loop (TOGO styled).

Attached File  GOPR0231.JPG   137.62KB   0 downloads

Next to do -> Complete loop

-> Add the motor mechanism again

                  -> Add catwalk to lift

I shall keep you updated as often as I can. Sorry for the image quality, I will make sure any new photos are better and not fuzzy.

loop is to small. Your speed will no longer exist after that if it gets through it at all. You have so much more height that you could use especially if you want to get through that layout.

Actually it isn't. I have modified the train - the front wheels are brought as close to the back wheels as possible. That way it can make the loop. The reason I did the modification was to give more of a 'wild mouse' feel. It can also do 90° hairpin turns.

Easy mistake to make really as the normal unmodified trains do not make it through.

I think what he means is that the loop won't conserve as much speed. Even if you have modified the cars, making it that small will still make it lose speed. I recommend having the car be able to get through the loop with just a little bit of speed, not almost completely stopping, but not completely speeding through it.

Yes I completely agree with you. Thanks for the feedback - point taken. I will modify it so it is better. Thanks again.

I like the use of RCT3 to make the layout. Always better to have a goal to work towards; helps models actually get done.

I have done more work on my rollercoaster.

Here is the progress I have made

- Added track after lift

- Finished and repositioned loop

- Re-done the Motor mechanism (haven't added motor as of yet)

- Completed Catwalks on lift

Track after pre drop

Close-up of light thing (added for decoration)

Attached File  GOPR0268.JPG   129.89KB   0 downloads

Completed catwalk (almost - need to add the top bit)

Attached File  GOPR0260.JPG   142.25KB   0 downloads

Closeup of track entering tunnel underneath lift

Attached File  GOPR0270.JPG   128.43KB   0 downloads

Hairpin turn just after tunnel (leading to drop)

Attached File  GOPR0278.JPG   130.43KB   0 downloads

The now completed loop. (I had to use the blue track as it was the only track I had that would stay on the ties)

Attached File  GOPR0263.JPG   173.1KB   0 downloads

Motor axle (just need to add the motor)

Attached File  GOPR0265.JPG   94.18KB   0 downloads

Also completed the teaser video for my rollercoaster

More coming soon!

Here is the test video anyway.

I know I haven't been as busy on this as I should've been. I just lost motivation a little and I get easily distracted =P

Anyway, I will work on this more over the weekend.

Lego!?! LEGGGOOOO!?!?!

...Anyway, you have a pretty unique coaster. The station looks pretty smart and that loop structure is an interesting prospect.

What's wrong with using LEGO?

I (personally) think it looks fine. I'm not hating or anything I am just open to your opinion.

Nothing. I was just joking because that's what happens when anyone sees Lego on a K'nex site. Nothing more than that so don't worry. ;)

Yea sorry for noting posting for a few weeks as I am currently struggling with lack of sleep I have had for a few weeks now. I have lost motivation but I am taking steps to increase it again. I am sorting my K'Nex and generally tidying up a tad (and doing other things too) which should boost my motivation again. I have had a lot on recently so yea...

I will be working on the coaster more especially during the Christmas Period.

Take care everyone and - happy building!
