Tantrum is a new Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter Coaster at my hometown park, Darien Lake. It is a clone of Iron Shark at Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier in Texas. This is going to be Darien Lakes newest coaster, the last one being built in 2008. Me and many other darien lake fans have been patiently waiting for a new coaster. So I wanted to pay some respect to Darien Lake by making a recreation of the new coaster. It is somewhat small, and is a clone, and yes it is really not that big of a deal when compared to all the other new coasters around the country for 2018, but it is still a new coaster and I'm excited to ride it. Also, I wanted to build a smaller coaster over my winter break, since I really only have a month and a half to build it before I have to go back to school. So I thought it would be a good idea to build this one. I have never built a Euro-fighter before, so this should be an interesting build. If any of you have ever built a euro-fighter type coaster before or have any advice or tips on building them, and would be willing to share it, I would really appreciate that, Thank you! Here is the layout and drawing of the coaster:

This looks like a fun coaster, I'm glad that you're getting something new at Darien Lake! In my experience, euro-fighters are nice to build because they don't require a lot of structure. The lift is small, and a 1-car train isn't very heavy, so you don't need to go crazy with the supports. Can't wait to see you get started on this!

Ok, so here are some photos for the update. The last photo is a picture of the station with wheels, and those wheels are going to be used for a moving platform, or a horizontal escalator. The moving platform moves at the same speed through the station as the coaster car (very slow) where riders enter and exit the vehicle. This is just like the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit station at Universal Orlando, or the Haunted Mansion station at the Magic Kingdom. I always like to add something different to my coasters, and I thought this would be a cool idea. So for now, this is what I got.

Well considering that you can't really physically get the tower to be much thinner than that with K'nex, it looks like you've done a pretty good job. I'd probably just support the entry to the Immelmanny loopy thing (technical term) a tiny bit more but not too much just so it holds its shape. I'll be interested to see how this moving platform works though.

Here is Photo Update #2. I am almost done with the track layout, the only thing left is the tilted loop and brake run. I will post the photos of the ride when the track layout is finished, probably within the next few days.

Looks great! Except for pullin to the overbank. It looks awkward. It would certainly look smoother if the overbank was going diagonally. Plus, you'd still be able to end up the same place you are now... I'll get a picture. Brb. Edit. WOW I'm an idiot. I forgot this was a recreation... yep looks great, carry on. *nervous laughter*

This looks really good! The elements and transitions are smooth. I think the right turn, after the turning drop, could be banked more. From the looks of the pictures below of Iron Shark, it looks like the transition of turns has some height, where your transition looks flat. Other than that everything looks recreated very nicely.

Haha, don't feel bad. I still plan on adjusting it a bit, but I can only adjust it so much because the car barely makes that overbank. So I kind have to take in account that the overbank can only be adjusted up to a point, otherwise it won't work because the car will not be able to make it through the overbank.

Thanks for pointing this out, I adjusted that bank turn a bit as seen below, do you think this looks better?

Ok, the ride itself is done, besides little adjustments here and there. Now I have been working on programming the ride, so that it is able to run two cars. I have also been working on the station, or moving platform as seen below. It was a little harder to do than I originally thought it would be, but it seems to be coming together now. I hope to get the ride and video done by next weekend, although it has been a pain on making the roller coaster work all together, because when I get one thing to work, then another thing doesn't work, and it keeps happening. Today it does seem the ride has been coming together better, and seems to be working better as a whole. Here are some photos:

Looks great! Those brakes seem like they'd slow the train down nice and smooth. Are you using an Arduino to control K'Nex motors? How are you doing that?

Thanks. The k'nex motors are controlled by a raspberry pi. If you click on this link, it will take you to the construction thread of a roller coaster I built last year, called Storm Fall, which also used the raspberry pi. I explained how everything works in that thread.

Ok, here is the final video with some pictures of the final ride. This was a fun but a lot of times hard to build. The build was a little tougher than I originally thought it would be. However, that is no longer an issue that the ride is finished and working well. Thank you all for your help and support.
