Realised I've only built one coaster this year. Let's change that.

Just having a bit of fun here. Nothing too big or crazy. I've had one attempt at a proper blue rod coaster and quite enjoyed how it came out so I thought I should have another go.

Enjoy and Merry Christmas 🎄🎄🎄🎄

Looks nice, the drop looks great. But it would be easier to see the shaping if the tubing was on.

Good to see another RMC.

I don't like the black x-ties on the lift though.

I like it. Can't judge too much until I see the tubing. Do you plan on finishing this before the year is over?

I usually mix up the X-ties on the lift just to add a bit of colour. More of a personal style for fun more than anything else. Thanks.

Well... evidently not haha. But it should be done in the near future. Thank you.

Got some track on now with a few test runs. Surprisingly, it worked with relative ease unlike a lot of my coasters but I'm sure it will all go downhill when I try to sort the lift out. There are couple of minor shaping issues here and there, particularly at the start of the pre-drop turn. I'll smooth it out a little bit later but for now, some pictures in its current state.

Test video:

Coming along a bit now. Since this stuff was all photographed, I've built a bit more in terms of supports so now I need to line everything up again. I think I have a solid layout planned now. I was chopping and changing my ideas a bit before but since I worked out my original idea was not going to work, it wasn't too difficult to change it around.

Thanks for reading (and watching)  :D

That was the most entertaining construction video I've ever seen!

As for the coaster, I love the inversion. However, I'm not a big fan of that straight-ish section after the first drop. It's like . . . it wants to be a double up, but then from some angles it looks super awkward.

Looking forward to seeing that station roof in place.

I was thinking that the bunny hop after the drop looks a little awkward too. I like it there in the layout, but there just isn't enough room to make it more pronounced. That inversion looks awesome though - the one on Joker at SFDK is super fun! And you've got tons of speed.

I started cracking up when you threw the shoe though.

Other than the bunny hop everything looks great! If just add an extra blue rod or twos worth in length to give it the presence that it needs. Don’t think I’ll be able to come see this one but I do have a project I may need a hand with at some point in the summer ;)

I tinkered with it and got it as well as I could without having to redo the section. It looks less awkward certainly. Also I just kinda went with whatever came to mind with the station. Threw some bits on here and there to bulk it out. I think it came out quite interestingly in the end. Thanks :D

And the terribleness of my shoe throwing. You can see why I'm awful at darts. Thank you :D

Haha. You won't see this one unfortunately as it'll be partially down by the end of the weekend, but you can enjoy all these pictures, right? Close enough ;) And yes, I'll be pretty busy this summer so I may not be able to build anything of note. I'll go mad if I don't scratch the building itch. Mad, I tell you!

So yeah, I was really pushed for time and I just put in the layout whatever I could think of at that moment. The result is a late ride airtime machine just to keep the thrill going towards the end. For the short time it took, I'm really pleased with how it came out in that it doesn't look completely terrible. Given more time, I would go into much more depth with certain things but I always knew this project would be really tight. Got it done though. Just the final video to go.

Internet is rubbish at the moment so I'll post more pictures in the morning.

Wow, that went up quickly.

I think you could have made a little bit more of the layout with the speed you had but it's still a really nice coaster especially if you were pushed for time.

I love the supports too, particularly around the roll.

This makes me want to give a blue rod RMC a go. I'm going to have find some time over the Summer to get my k'nex out.

That's a beautiful coaster, especially given how fast you built it! That bunny hill thing does look a lot better now.

Yeah. I could only do so much in the time I had but I did the best I could. I think the supports did come out pretty nicely for how quickly they were built. I couldn't have really made them significantly better even with more time given they're in the style that I would build them anyway. Thanks.

Thank you. :D

Managed to get the filming done on Friday and finished the video tonight. For some reason, YouTube isn't letting me alter the aspect ratio like it used to and since this was filmed on the iPad camera, it's slightly windowed but it's not a huge issue.

Well... This has been an interesting project to work on. It started it off as something traditional and within 3 weeks, it changed into something very different indeed. It has been fun, even if it was painful at times. Every test run I did worked first time since I was fairly conservative with the layout knowing the time constraints involved and in the end, I am happy with the result.

I don't know how many more coasters I'll be able to make since my time in the near future will be pretty limited. My summer is already pretty booked up with placements and holidays and I do need some do-nothing downtime but maybe I may find some spare time, even if it's something small. I'll still be hanging round here, of course ;) Maybe I'll do a big compilation of everything up to now to tie it all together at some point.

Thank you for reading. It's been a pleasure as always. Hopefully the next time won't be so far away.

What a fantastic coaster to build before you take a short break from building! I liked how it turned out even if that's not what you had originally planned. The bunny hop after the drop is much better now, by the way. Blue rod woodies just look so good and realistic.

I also liked the video a lot. You did an excellent job integrating those sliding shots and using continuity (where you cut from one camera angle to another, but the train continues in the same part of the layout from one shot to the next, so it looks really fluid). Excellent job!

Thank you. The sliding shots were a classic fudge solution. The old set up a plank and support the camera on a skateboard with some tape and a container of PVA. Turned out too badly.

Thanks. Possibly, but yeah, no guarantees. I'm sure you'll have something I can mess around with though ;)

Thank you. Not really too many modifications. I do have the front car to middle car piece printed by Muzz for me (thanks :D) a couple of years ago but as for weighting, I just used a few ball-bearings under the cars. Combined with some silicone lubricant, it runs pretty well.

Well thanks everyone for the comments. If there are any more then I will still reply to them so don't be shy ;)
Also, everybody seemed to like the station roof so here are couple more shots in a different light. Might not take it down just yet as one of my fingers is rather sore just now (no details you want to know believe me) so I can still enjoy it a bit longer.

Might try and use a similar design for future stations and adapt it to see what I can create, if I have the time of course. We shall see how it all pans out.

Thanks again :D
