Begin July 2006, I hit my head in the shower very hard, and came up with the idea of making a launch system, where rubber bands provide power to a chain that pulls the train. The chain would be pulled by hand, and automatically got locked.
When you pull a trigger, the chain will release and start pulling the train with a high speed.

The old thread I started while I came up with that, DID include a full tutorial, but however, sadly, I lost the half of it when I got problems with photobucket.

This mechanism became most common as the "Jesper" launch (since my name is Jesper).
(I never asked for a name anyway, and I still think that one day, someone can come up with a better name for this instead of "Jesper launch" or "Jesper's Lauch").;)

I got a lot of private messages from members who want to know how this mechanism works, and where the rest of the tutorial is. I thought a lot of making the rest of it again, or just do the whole thing over. And last week, it happened!

So after some hours of shooting pictures and way more hours of editing, I, present to you, SSCoasters:

The Jesper Launch tut v2.0!

I hope that you understand everything of it and that you can see my effort I put in. Please, sit back and feel like a young noob again as I show you even the easiest steps to make. Enjoy.

^^^ Your name-creating skills are truly and amazingly profound...
^^ Yes, I'm pretty sure that it should.
This is pretty nice! Is the chain normally strong enough to withstand the speeds needed for a succesful launch?

What did you do to erase the background in each picture?

Thanks guys! That's so nice of you.
Good luck nitrodude319! You can always experiment with more techniques. That answers KCK's question as well: You can increase the accelerations by moving the wheel that is connected to the rubber bands more towards the end of the launch.

I'm so smart.

MPthrill, you've just blown me away!

And Airdog: it's magic!

Omg, I never thought this tutorial would ever see the light of day again! The instructions look familiar... I wonder ;) Anyways, this is really awesome! Did you use a white backdrop to get it to look computerized and yet it's not?

I think we could have settled for a simple tutorial.

Excellent job! 100 stars out of 5

Edit: How did you get your backgrounds so white?
