Great Wheel of Holland was Jochem's showpiece. With a height of not less than 15 feet / 4.60 meters it broke all records! Just the wheel had a weight of over 70 pounds / 32 kilograms. The wheel featured 60 gondolas, which took a whole day to build. The use of tube supports as spokes gave the ride its iconic look. Great Wheel of Holland was featured at two expositions.
Its sheer size made it necessary to level the foundations before the rest is assembled. The assembly was a special happening and could be done with two persons. Spokes and parts of the outer ring were added alternately, after which all gondolas were connected to balance the ride. Lastly, the four motors were added and adjusted to power the ride.
