Halfway July I am supposed to have a smaller flat ride ready for an exposition, so I decided to go with bumper cars. I have seen at least one bumper cars recreation on Themepark.nl, but I decided to go with my own design. Yes, the car is rather large. To be honest, this is just one time deal and I am just going to follow what comes up in my mind and keep you updated with what happens to this small ride.

I am planning on powering a few of those cars by connecting the vertical rods to powered chains in the ceiling of the ride. :)

One more month to build this...

The bottom side of the ceiling. Will make sure the top side will be covered in some way. :) There are two chain loops, the inner one powers 3 bumper cars, the outer one powers 5 bumper cars.

I knew it!! I knew you'd go with this design.

Looks amazing Gump, now I just want to see how this turns out. Looking at this reminds me of an inverted design of Jesper's Pirate Ship ride thing.

Cool! BTW, could the cars come a bit closer to eachother so there's a chance of collissions? Love this project already!

Taken off the head lights. They were causing problems when the cars collided. Now working on the third car. Interested in how many cars the motors can handle.

Love it so far, good luck!

Got some footage for you guys. Let me be clear, this is still just a test. Been doing a lot of tinkering afterwards and I even came up with a way that should solve the whole jerkiness. Haven't worked it out yet, but I'll get up early to work on it again.

Wow, that looks great and super realistic, minus the whole jerkiness thing. I think that is my biggest concern, because once that is fixed it will look like a smooth ride up until the cars hit. Very nice work on the structure and realism on this, for I really like the outcome of it.

Replace the grey rods with black carbon rods, and strengthen the connections at the top. The best way to solve the jerkiness would be to place a thin sheet of plastic on the bottom of the cars, and cover the base/floor with another thin, plastic sheet.

Looks great!

One thing that could be improved: Make it possible for the cars to 'swing' a bit, so they always go a bit different!

Good luck!
