After long debate, the Martians, and your judges have chosen a winner. The judges, LaMbChOpZ and Jogumpie, along with the representatives of Six Flags Mars are happy to release the winning coaster for the new park.

Following the rules of:
  • Maximum height of 150 feet (including sub-subterranean sections)
  • Track length between 3,000 feet to 3,500
  • The initial mode of propulsion must be from lift hill (launches can be added farther on in the layout)
  • Coaster type is a Hyper (no inversions)
  • Invigorating Lift Hill (this includes the drop)
  • At least one (1) section of 0G or Negative G (-G) Lateral are required and can occur anywhere after the lift hill, but must be before the brake run (does not include acceleration G's)
  • Building area is 1000ft by 500 ft (rectangular in shape) for the coaster, but any additional scenery may be incorporated outside or inside this area.
  • Coaster colors should reflect the surface of Mars, or represent Mars in some way.
  • Finally, a unique element to your coaster (theming, element (non-inverting), or anything else you can think of)
  • As for any coaster, the G Forces must stay in the Green to Yellow, as for anything above will actually kill the Martian-riders.

And with that, out of the 4 choices, the winning design was
Operation Earth by Minimoggi!

We did say that you would also get your score and general comments back, so here you go! The scores are an average between both judges and the comments are mixed (if there was a decimal, it was truncated)

Fire Pit by Unendingride:
  • Trackwork - 21/30
  • Following Rules -20/25
  • Creativity - 16/25
  • Special Element - 15/20

Total Score: 72/100

Comments: The G-Forces were flawed in 2 spots, bottom of the first drop (probably from the transport segment, which we don't know why is there). Second being towards the end of the coaster right after the straight section; it was so severe, the Martian's necks would probably be broken from it. There were pumps and bumps, but they weren't too bad. It occured at several spots in the ride (bottom of 1st drop, middle of 2nd drop), but the rest of the trackwork was good. You had points deducted for the height, ride length, and G forces. Your supports were OK, but you need to stick to more custom supports for the ride. The coaster's layout was good, but could be more compact, and the terraforming increased your score. The lift hill was special, but unrealistic (at least for earth), but we both agree that the supports for it were very nice.

Mission to Mars by Jespercoasters
  • Trackwork - 20/30
  • Following Rules -20/25
  • Creativity - 19/25
  • Special Element - 12/20

Total Score: 71/100

Comments:The G-Forces are a little intense in the small hill after the first drop, and the small pumps don't help with that. The opinions about your special element's trackwork are split; it's banking and shaping is funky, but it did provide a strange sort of thrill to the ride. The ride being streched out so much also doesn't help with the thrill of the ride. You lost points for your lift hill, since it was a normal lift, for the confusion of riding and determining your special element, and for G Forces. However, your creativity in the layout was present, but we wish it was still more compact and the small pumps were fixed. The themeing however was very nice and appealed to the martians and the judges. One judge had no clue what the speical element was (maybe he didn't read the upload post...?), but it was indeed a bit out of the norm.

Operation Earth by Minimoggi
  • Trackwork - 25/30
  • Following Rules -22/25
  • Creativity -23/25
  • Special Element - 17/20

Total Score: 87/100

Comments:There are 3 G-Force spots that needed fixing: The drop (for back of the train), after the first drop climbing upwards, and the lateral forces in the buckel. There were literally no pumps and the only flaw is the banking going into the MCBR. Your only deduction was for G-Forces. For creativity, we both enjoyed the ride, themeing, and the overall aspect of the ride. It was felt that the train moved too slowly through the overbank and the deacceleration during the MCBR was a little sad. However, your supports were great and your theming was really good. Your launch was very enjoyable, but could have been spread out more. Only real flaw is the air-time in the back of the trains.

Prometheus by Sonicriders789
  • Trackwork - 20/30
  • Following Rules -22/25
  • Creativity -15/25
  • Special Element - 15/20

Total Score: 72/100

Comments:The video shows green-only G-forces. The manoeuvres appear stretched, but since there is no track file, this is hard to
compare with the other rides. The trackwork, from the video, was about average. You lost points for the lift hill, and some judge deducted points for your special element (but I'm overriding that since you did explain that in the upload thread). Your G-Forces were in check and you were the only person to not loose points for that. Although very hard to rate the coaster, the ride looked very simple in layout. The similar drops between you and Jesper were very coincidental, but no points were deducted for that. There was also no supports, but no points again taken off since you explained why in the upload. Your air hill was very nice, and everything before the MCBR was fine, but the 2nd half was really lacking the thrill the first half did. As said earlier, one judge didn't know what your special element was, but I think it was good, but needs to be a bit more thrilling, even increasing the angle of decent would have added to the thrill.

Well, great job everyone and maybe we'll see you next year (if we hold another spring-NL contest).
