Hello. A while back I've tried to build something with VV, and I failed miserably. I think the problem is that I use my SS experience, while VV requires a completely different building proces. But there is no tutorial that really shows how to build something with VV. What would really help me, is a step-by-step tutorial on how to build an element, a loop for instance, just as an example on how I should build up my coaster. I don't even know whether I should start with the track, the supports, the backbone or whatever right now.
I hope some experienced VV builder can do this for me (sorry, but I don't feel like learning from a newbie that is still practising the art of knexcoasters himself, that won't get me far). You would be doing me and lots of other beginners a favour.
Greets,
Bart
After 10 minutes of trying to find where I should post this, I decided to post it here. Staff, please move this if necessary.

^ Funny thing, actually. I'm working on a couple of these now and I wouldn't mind sharing what I've got so far. Keep in mind, my loop shaping is a bit too round for B&M, but this will give you a good general idea of where to start.

^That is one awesome tutorial! Now that I have seen it I would love to try VV, but I'll highly probable stay with SS .

^ Just warning you, most SS builders that try VV don't like it. It's the same the other way around too. Most VV builders that try SS don't like it. There are exceptions though. Look at Arsenic (RCExtreme), Turtleman24, Coasterfanatic11.
Here's some tips since I'm away from my K'NEX and unable to make a full tutorial.
This is a good spine for a SS builder trying out VV. Just replace the grey rods with flexi's and you got yourself one hell of a spine.
A very important part of VV is to be very creative with your track to support connections. There is no such thing as overkill with VV. If you use the same kind of TTS connection along the entire coaster, it will be weak. You can use the same kind of connection on sections of your ride, but non on the entire coaster. There is no such thing as overkill with VV.
Well, actually there is, but it's very difficult to achive.
Here's a pic of some of my TTS connections.
That's all I have. I hope it helps!

Stig, that was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks.
Maxwell, I already know a bunch of spines and I know that track-to-support connections are important, it's the entire building proces that I don't understand. Well, after Stig's post I do.

I finally dug up some pics to atleast help you a little bit.
I used the same strategy as The Stig for Fireball. I put the spine and some temporary supports to hold the shape of Tornado's spine and then built the box supports and connected the track to the supports.
If you use this for wooden coasters (or just typical box supported VV coasters), use this for a spine since micro box supports can't handle a stiff spine like The Stig's B&M Spine.
Hope this helps!
Just try hard not to give up with VV. It's very frustrating the first time you build, but after that the building process gets incredibly, super easy. That's when you fall in love with VV.

Now I'm curious.
How different is this from SS?

^I've wondered the same thing. After every build I always ask my self do I want to build an awesome VV or a small SS. VV wins every time.

I am not sure. I always start with supports, and then build the track, shape it and add some more track-to-support connections.
Tomorrow I'll be trying that loop. I don't have much of a choice, I can only built on my desk now because of my leg, lol.
