Awesome Ferris wheel regardless of whether it's your first or not. Looks like you've had some experience with k'nex before this.

Hi everyone as I said i would earlier I built new diagonal supports but still have to add two tube supports on either side to help hold up the wheel and stop it from falling sideways (this happened (again!)):o

Because of this I decided to split the wheel up into its main parts (the tubes, outer ring, middle ring and centre). You can see some bits in the background of the pics!

Here are some pics of the centre sitting on the new supports:

Sorry about the pics disappearing I was moving them into an album on photobucket.

Also I have built a mechanism at the top of the supports with one of the newer motors and a couple of medium and small cogs/gears to slow it down, unfortunately no pic but I will update on Saturday or Sunday at the latest. I am expecting to have it finished by the 22nd.

Finally does anyone have any name ideas cause I really need a name but remember its a Ferris wheel so nothing over the top!!!

Please comment!:)

I strongly advise you to not power the wheel from your main axle. It causes incredible stresses on the whole wheel. The best would be to drive it from the rim of the wheel or anywhere in between. Slowing down the motor helps but still causes a lot of strain on your pieces.

Hi guys I have decided to take maxlaam's advice and will be powering the wheel from the rim. Here is the picture of the set up with the motor on the centre support.

I am now going to buy a metal rod for the centre for better supports.

Please comment! (thumbsup)

Hi guys I now got a steel rod to hold the wheel and have built 16 gondolas for the wheel and I think they look pretty cool...

Posted Image

Posted Image

The door open quite easily and they even have a seat! I will be connecting them using micro knex to make it easier.

After this all I have to do is add the bit to help power it from the rim along with some more queues and I should be finished!:D

Please comment! Oh! Any more name ideas? ( not over the top! )

Wow. This is awesome. Do you have any kind of lights that you could add onto it just to top it off? I really like the paths at the bottom as well. Another attempt at a name: Cloud 9.
