Day One - 6/9/13
We leave our home in South Carolina and make our way past Carowinds and to our hotel in West Virginia to stay the night.
(Sorry for the crappy photo)
Day Two - 6/10/13
We leave the hotel and take a three hour drive through Ohio to get to Cedar Point. Once we check into the Hotel Breakers, Brady and I walked to the hotel entrance and the riding starts with Magnum XL-200 (BTW, this was my first time riding most of the rides here). After riding Magnum in the front seat (which was VERY painful), we went and rode Mean Streak. This ride was better than I expected, but the trims on the drop really killed it for me. We then walked passed Maverick and over to Mantis, where we rode in the 2nd to last car. We did not expect that much airtime. Since it was right next to it, we went ahead and rode Millennium Force for the first time. Now I see why it keeps getting the best steel coaster award! Next we walked over to the Midway section of the park and road Maxair, where Brady said he had "OBS" (If you watched TPR's coaster expedition/ghetto fair, you'll get the joke). After that we rode Wicked Twister, and I can't help but think this coaster is a bit underrated. We rode in the back seat, and it was amazing! Going up that back spike at 72 MPH and looking down the track was amazing! We ended up riding it a second time before heading on to meet up with my mom and sister at Johnny Rockets for an amazing milkshake and Chili Dog! Next we rode Wicked Twister with my mom and sister again, and we were met with angry glares and an unexpected phrase from my mom: "I just about shit my pants!" They left us after that and we decided to bash our heads on Corkscrew (amazingly we ended up riding this again sometime on the trip). Then we re-rode Magnum and found the best seats: car four, middle seat, right side. It is only painful on the 2nd to last airtime hill, and the rest isn't painful at all. People were starting to leave so we went and rode Maverick front seat at night. That was a bad idea. You see, the mosquitoes at Cedar Point are huge, and they are EVERYWHERE! So when your going 70 MPH out of a tunnel into a huge bunch of giant mosquitoes, its not only disgusting when they get in your mouth, but its a bit painful too! Besides that little obstacle (and the restraints pushing down on our legs really hard by the end of the ride), the ride was great and had lots of airtime. We only had 15 minutes left until the park closed, so we decided our last ride would be on Millie. We waited about 13 minutes in line for the front seat, just to be told to choose an empty seat for the last ride. It took us a second to register what they just said "... the last ride." So not only we were getting a ride on Millennium Force at night, but the last ride of the day with all the staff riding with us! After that, we walked back through the creepy, non-music-filled park in the dark and back to the hotel.
Day Three - 6/11/13
Fast Lane Plus day! Since we were staying at the hotel, we got early entry too! We started Maverick in the front seat again, then head over to Millennium Force to ride it twice. Then we rode Mantis again in the same seats as the previous day. After that we head over to the sky ride (which took us by surprise with how fast it goes) and took a few pictures of Raptor and other rides:
We went and rode Raptor before the lines got long. Frankly, I though this ride is not really worth the wait it always has. Everything is fine until you hit the cobra roll, where my ears felt like they were being stabbed. And then everything after the brake run is a bit boring, in my opinion. Then came a big disappointment for me: Gatekeeper. Before I continue, I would like to state this is an OPINION. I am not saying that this is a terrible ride, its actually great! I was just expecting more to come out of this ride. And to be honest, I don't think you can pull a Wingrider off on this scale. I did feel like I was flying, but I felt like I was on a normal roller coaster, not hanging off of the side of one. Now this is nitpicking, but the restraints on the left side of the train (and for some reason not the right side) push down on your hips really hard by the end of the ride (nicknamed hip-obs by my friend), giving it the same problem as Maverick. But on the plus side, this ride is still really fun to ride and is worth the ride when you come to Cedar Point. By the time we got off of our second ride on Gatekeeper, the park had opened and the flood of people started to roll on in. So we could avoid the crowd rushing in, we went and rode Blue Streak which is a great wooden coaster that still holds up to its age. By the time we got off, the huge wall of people was dying down so we went and rode Iron Dragon twice to try and calm down a little bit. Then we put our Fast Lane Plus to use on Top Thrill Dragster. We were so nervous getting on to this, we had a little prayer circle before boarding the train. The worst part about the ride, though, is waiting for it to launch. The anxiety as the magnetic brakes go down and the nervous fear of the train rolling backwards to prepare for launch is really terrifying. Then it launched. The speed of this ride is AMAZING and the airtime at the top just tops it all off. Then plummeting back to the ground is almost as fun as the airtime at the top. Even after we got off, we were still shaking from excitement and adrenaline.
After that, we just rode the rest of the rides the park had to offer. We rode Magnum 3 more times, Gemini, Mean Streak, Maverick 2 more times, Millennium Force two more times, Cedar Creek Mine Ride twice, Power Tower Shot three times, Dragster another time, and then another special end to the night: Four rides in a row on Magnum without getting off. We had the best ride op, too! We walked back to the hotel with sore feet and were greeted with pizza.
Day Four - 6/12/13
The Final Day (about time!). We just went about and re-rode rides all day, and riding some of the flat rides (Ferris Wheel, Windseeker, Troika, Maxair again). Unfortunately, Skyhawk wasn't open the entire trip so we didn't get to ride that. In the last 15 minutes of the day, we rushed in a ride on Maverick with no line, two rides on Millie without getting off, and four rides on Magnum without getting off. Is it normal for Magnum to turn off it's trims at the turnaround at night? Because it made the ride very intense and made the airtime much more noticeable. I also confused the staff there by saying "Trimless Magnum", and I was trying to explain to them what it meant. Oh well. After that, we went back to the hotel to sleep so we can wake up the next morning and leave
Day Five and Six - 6/13-14/13
Driving back to Charlotte to stay at a hotel. Leave the next morning for home.
Well, that was our trip! I would put way more in, but it would be to much to put it. Here are some extra pictures.
You must eat here if you visit!
Me (left), Brady (right). Taken in the Pagoda Gift Shop.
Me and my sister in the front row, Brady behind my sister.
The three of us.
And that was our trip!
