The one for the micro track or the older version like the SS?

I am far from being a newbie when it comes to building stuff out of Knex and my daughter wants a roller coaster, currently i do have the micro set but i feel the way it connects is flawed and feel the older style may be better but i don't have any experience with it so could do with some opinions :)

I would say take a look at some of the micro-track coasters we have on here. Essentially, we've taken care of the track connection problem by attaching a spine underneath the track, and then you are free to connect your supports almost anywhere on the spine.

I would say right now that going with the micro-track system is more feasible to start your coaster system or collection. It's cheaper and more popular from Knex right now. The only way you'll build up with the old system right now is by buying fair price from ebay, craigslist, and garage sales, or by paying a ridiculous amount to buy straight from Knex.

I also should add that I started building way before the first slim track set was even released, and I've never built with it except for the pre-designed set.

There's pros and cons to both SS and VV coasters. Knex has pumped out a lot of micro based sets where as the SS aren't as abundant.

As stated above Ebay has been a good place to pick up more. Goodwill auctions of #15 standard lots starting at $26 with free shipping (not add often they have #7 micro lots at $20). The cheapest SS set I've picked up was via Craigslist for $20 (Ebay average 25-40 with shipping).

One other thing, if you get into the VV micro be aware there's 2 incompatible style of track pieces: older ones from Vertical Vengeance and Serpent Spiral have metal pins that connect the tracks together, and newer tracks which have plastic tabs.

To add something ^ said.

If you buy second handed always ask if it has metal or plastic endings!
I have 2 Lava Launched sets and 1 has metal and 1 has plastic endings. I would go for the plastic endings.

I build with metal endings because I have a lot of them, that's the only reason. Plastic is better because it's newer and has more sets with curved track.
