A few weeks ago, I was trying to find a way to make the track for an Intamin drop tower. After an hour or so trying to find a way, I thought about what Max did on his Apocalypse drop tower. I used a similar method of his and it works like a charm! I'll let the pictures do the rest of the talking.

One of the cars and catch cars.

The black rods at the back of the 3-d connecters keep the car to the track.

And for those who want a size comparison with the coaster (work in progress)...

I think that's the best micro drop tower I've ever seen. The size of the pieces and how they're so close together makes it look huge (not that it isn't).
All of this reminds me of how much I love the look of VV woodies.

I would love to know more about your mechanism. Does the black rod connected to the orange elbow carry the seats? When it reaches the top is the purple connector the release mechanism?

Nonetheless it looks great!

I think micro drop towers looks way better than standard K'nex drop towers. Like The Stig said, the size of the pieces and how close together makes this tower look... almost real! It looks more like a solid structure than a structure with gaps.

The wooden coaster looks epic too.
