Hey guys, I'm going on a trip next week to KI and CP, and possibly their waterparks, time permitting.

I have 5 total days, Monday - Friday. Maybe one or two hours after arriving Sunday night to KI.

1. How quickly, in terms of days) do you think we could do both of these parks? We are going on all weekdays.
We want to hit all the major coasters, and a couple flats in each.

2. Do either of these parks have the early pass-holder entry?
If so, what rides would you suggest to go on during that time?

3. Is Maverick back open from its restraint switcheroo yet?

4. What coasters would you avoid?

5. Any other tips you would like to share?

I have to get back to work on summer assignments, but I may have more questions later.

1) If you're doing weekdays, I would say you could do both in two days minimum. However, I would spend the extra money and enjoy a 4 or 5 day vacation. (Do already have a Platinum Pass?)

2) KI has Banshee and DBack open 30 minutes before opening. I would suggest ride one of them two or three times, then head to Firehawk at opening.
CP has Millie, Maverick, Rougarou, Iron Dragon, Raptor, and GateKeeper open an hour before opening for pass holders and resort guests. I usually use the back entrance, ride Maverick twice, Millie once or twice, then get in line for Dragster by 9:45 (sometimes they open before official opening, but regardless you'll have a short wait once it opens).

3) Yes, it's been open all year.

4) Coasters to avoid? REALLY???

5) I would consider doing CP in the early part of the week, as they will be announcing their 2016 addition on Tuesday (the 18th) at 9PM. I was at Banshee's reveal, and it was one hell of an event.

And I would highly suggest utilizing the 3 "side" entrances of CP, especially for Passholder entrance and opening. I've already described what I use the back (Soak City) entrance for; it's the quickest access to Dragster, Magnum, and Maverick. Similarly, the Marina entrance is the quickest access to Millie, and there's a walkway to/from the main parking lot (just follow the outside of Blue Streak). And the Beach entrance is quickest to GateKeeper, and for this, park in the Soak City lot, walk under Magnum, go past the back entrance, past or through Hotel Breakers, and follow the beach toward Windseeker.

At KI, hit Firehawk as soon as it opens. It's a capacity nightmare and will carry a long wait all day. If you don't, try before closing. And I shouldn't have to say this, but ride The Beast at night. The ride suspends operation at 9:45 for the fireworks, but as long as you're in line by 10, you'll ride (save for weather or operational break down).

For both places, Panda Express is decent food for a decent value. Prices look bad, but you will get enough food to stuff yourself.

1. One day each if you're lucky.
But preferrably, two days CP and one day KI.

2. You can get in an hour early if you stay in Hotel Breakers or any other CP-owned hotel.
Anything Intamin. Maverick and Millie definitely because their lines take long.

3. Yes.

4. None. Maybe Mean Streak if you had to, but just ride it anyway.

5. CP
Don't eat the sushi at Hotel Breakers.
Magnum - 1st car 3rd row
Millie - 5th car 1st row

KI
Banshee & Diamondback - Back row
Watch the fireworks from atop the Eiffel Tower

If you want a more comfortable experience on Magnum, I like the 2nd to last row (Car 6 row 2). Trying out several rows shouldn't be a problem though, Magnum typically has a 5 minute or less wait for most of the day.

First row of the second car on the left side has become my favorite seat on Magnum. I would just stick to the first rows of the cars otherwise, they seem to provide the best ride.

After riding mean streak once, dont bother trying to ride it. Save yourself a spine.

You have to ride front row on Mean Streak to get a decent ride.

Thanks for all the input, guys!

@pkiknex Yeah, we have the platinum passes. We've visited Dorney, KD, and Carowinds too. Thanks a ton for the advice on the back entrances! That will help massively.

Unfortunately, the way the map works out, we'll be coming from the south, and hit KI first. So we will be visiting Kings Island on Monday and Tuesday (and miss the CP event :( ) and Cedar Point on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

1b. Are there any rides that should be ridden earlier in the day to avoid crazy lines? (Obviously Dragster, but we'll ride that when the park opens)

2b. What rides are worth waiting for the front row or back row?

Here is the trip map. We stop in NC to sleep and pick up my grandmother.

I figured you'd be coming from either the east or south, but if you're doing a round trip, what's the difference really? I'm guessing CP <-> home would be your longest drive, so what's the difference in doing it to start the trip instead of ending it? CP on M, T, W, and KI on Th, F.

1b. Intamins, the sooner the better. And Firehawk and Flight of Fear at KI.

2b. Millie both back and front, Dragster front, Mean Streak front (if you want to live); Dback back, Banshee both.

Yeah, the only problem is that apparently there's some relatives in Detroit that we'll be visiting on the weekend as well... :/

NVM found it...

I seriously owe you one. Thanks for the map, and all the helpful information. I was feeling kind of overwhelmed trying to plan around the schedule my mom gave me, but now I feel confident about the whole thing.

We have three days there, so would doing the Marina entrance to hit Raptor and GateKeeper be a good plan for the second day?

For GateKeeper, use the Beach Entrance. And for Raptor, the main gate is actually the closest, so a side entrance won't help you there.

Added a few more tidbits to the map, as well.
