So my next project is going to be a dive coaster...

I am going to do something similar to Valravn at Cedar Point. It wont be an exact replica but a close rendition. I dont have orange track but red will do.

And a couple of construction photos as I am building it right now. More later tonight...

The turn looks s bit too stretched, I don't know if it's supposed to be like this.

I like how you can nearly copy the supports of the real ride :)

Its a little odd shaped but as I mentioned its just a close rendition, there are limits to what you can reasonably do with CD products. With out chopping up a bunch of non replaceable parts. So basically I just make it work.

So the ride was done on sunday, with about 6 hours of work. Just something fun to do on a sunday afternoon.

The ride came out pretty good, all though I made a mistake in the layout as I went over the flat spin instead of under and not a 90 degree on the second drop. Plus was running out of speed.  So it is what it is.  A close rendition of Valravn.

Hey that looks pretty good my friend.  How well do the dive coaster cars keep speed?

Hey that looks pretty good my friend.  How well do the dive coaster cars keep speed?

They run pretty good as good as the other sitdowns run. But with only 3 cars in a train they have a little less weight.

The track alignments have to be precise. If the train bobbles from side to side it looses a lot of speed. You really have to make proper element shaping and smooth track. Lots of supports to make stiff track.

The trains need a little modify depending on the generation of train you have.

Below is a photo of 4 photos.

1 is where you modify the connection between front car and second row. You  dont want much play in the two cars. IF you train has the floor piece like in photo 2 then you are okay; IF not you need a thick section of plastic to make a spacer to tighten the gap. Photo 3 and then make a washer like in photo 4. Insert into the train as in photo 1. Basically stiffening the train so it runs better.
