A Toledo man is seeking damages for injuries he

allegedly received while on the Antique Cars, according to a lawsuit filed in Erie

County Common Pleas Court on Friday, the Sandusky Register reported.

The lawsuit states that Joseph Bassett Jr. suffered back and spine injuries when the

antique car he was riding in was struck in the rear by another car driven by a child on

July 26, 2002.

Bassett states he has suffered "physical and emotional

pain, loss of enjoyment, loss of wages and an impairment of his earning

capacity," according to the lawsuit.

He is seeking more than

$25,000 in damages.

$25,000 seems like a little much

doesn't it?

It was July 22nd in 2002. Maybe they are just getting

around to the trial but that seems odd. Cedar Point is not responsible ofr lost or

damaged articles. His back was an article that got damaged so CP is not responsible.

^ Exactly. Their are warnings posted all over the

park saying anything that happened is not the parks responsibility. The only thing I

think he could do is sue the child that hit his car, if he can prove thats what caused the

injuries. Its not that hard to have problems with your neck or back. A simple sneeze

can cause problems, and other tasks like getting up the wrong way can cause injuries.

ok, off topic, but yeah. Getting up the wrong way

from a chair at school has hurt my neck a few times at school. But have I sued them.

Nope.

Enjoy.

Do you ever realize how lawsuits ruin everything? My

2 favorite skateparks were shut down cuz some people hurt themselves.

something they shouldn't, or they are being plain stupid!

A lot of times back or neck injury's don't

appear until weeks or sometimes months after the incident.

I could be wrong, but does anyone else think it's

ridiculous when people get in little accidents or problems like this and then they sue

whomever for "emotional stress”? Saying they are very troubled over this whole

sad situation of getting hit by a bumper car :-/, I guess I am just a little skeptical that

people are actually able to sue somebody for these kinds of things. A lot of accidents

with people at amusement parks seem almost totally made up, or at least extremely

exaggerated for a simple accident to me really. That’s what it seems like to me

anyway.

IMO the guy should be sueing the kid.

Reason? There is a big sign that says "STOP! and wait for op" it isnt

CP fault

Its one thing to ask to pay for your medical bills or

something if u got hurt, but do u really need to sue them for 25,000 dollars?

This is bad, first the SFNE SROS incodent, then the ttd one, now this? Uh oh, i

smell the return of Ed Markey....

He's a senator from NJ who wants to ban like

half the coaster's in the United States. Don't worry about it, I think this is

pretty insignificant.

The Antique Cars do NOT have rubber bumpers, they

are metal attached to the cars by springs. They don't bump the cars very softly.

I think the child and CP are at fault but it doesn't really matter since 25,000 is

nothing to CP and I don't think this case will go anywhere. MillenniumMan310,

I don't know why you are so worked up about the accident in comparison to the

others this year when this accident happened it 2002! Did you read the first

post, this happened in 2002!

It happened in 2002,

but hes sueing now so the case has become public, i dont think i heard asbout this till

today.

Im not getting worked up, i was pretty much being sarcastic

because it was in 99 after the many accidents (even though maybe 1 of them was the

parks fault) in the coaster world that Ed Markey started to really open his mouth and

complain, i was just making a comment that all these negitive things are comming out

that it seems time for him to make a return....
