I just got back from a 5 day trip to

CP!!! It was SO awsome. Here is a very short trip report.

Day 1 (Monday): Traveling day. Woke up at 4:00am for a 7:20 flight and got to our

hotel (Radison) at about 7:30 (5 hours flying to Chicago and the rest was drive).
Day 2(Tuesday): Wake up at 7:00 and eat at buffet. Get to park at 8:45. We walked

on to Raptor!!! Then we got on MF in 30 minutes. We got both them

in before the park even opened. We rode every coaster cept for Jr. Gemini,

Woodstock's Express, Wildcat, and TTD (it was down till 7:00pm).
Day3(Wednesday): Same cept we rode Wildcat, Woodstock's Express and

TTD (we sprinted into line at 9:00 and it took us an hour because of downtime). Me

and my friend got stuck at the top of Demon Drop!!! It was funny

cause the two little girls next to us were freakin out!!!
Day4(Thursday): We sprinted to TTD at 9:00 again and got on in 10

minutes!!! Then we went to Soak City for 4 hours. We went to

Cedar Point after that. We got on every coaster at least twice cept for Jr. Gemini.

Our most ridden coasters were (Raptor-5 and MF-5) At 8:30 we got in line for MF

thinking that it would be the last ride of the day but were done w/ MF by 9:30. So we

hoped inline for TTD. We got to the station in 45 minutes and would have gotten done

by 10:30 or so but, we waited for the front. WOW!!! It was better at

night and in the front. We got great pics. It is so hard to keep your hands up at 120

mph. We left the park at 11:20
Day5(Friday): Same as day one only backwards

but we stoped at my Aunts in Indiana.

Go Broncos!

It is awesome in the front of TTD at Night, but it's so easy to

keep your arms up, and it hurts, all the water from the launch flying into your face, at

least in the front it does

Yeah the mist hurts. My dad wrote up another trip

report. There are a few inside jokes in there so if you dont get somthing, its probably a

joke. Here it is:

CEDAR POINT 2003 ROAD TRIP
August 18th –

22nd 2003

Monday Aug 18th

Flew into Chicago Midway

airport from San Diego. Our mid-size rental was not available so we got upgraded to

a full size at no extra charge. Drove ~ 5hours into Sandusky, Ohio. The weather

was perfect. Drew was the designated tollbooth change guy and Dustin was the

navigator. It was an easy drive along the turnpike. The boys slept for about 2 hours.

Drew was trying to figure out the toll coast for us thru Indiana and added up all the

toll costs at each exit and announce it would be about $81! I told him we

were not going to pay that much to drive through this state. I looked over the toll

sheet and found he had added up each exits toll cost. It only cost us $4 for the

last exit, which was more reasonable. Only had one small detour in Sandusky when

we took the hwy into town v. the small road we were on. It turned out we were able

to locate some stores this way anyway and therefore was no big deal. Checked in at

the Radisson, picked up our admission tickets, in early passes and free parking.

Tuesday Aug 19th

We spent 13 hours at ‘The Point’. I

had the boys up at 7AM, ate breakfast at the buffet in the hotel. We were in the park

at 0900.

20 Rides: Raptor – Millennium Force (1000) – Mantis –

Corkscrew – Magnum XL200 – Gemini - Cedar Creek Mine Ride (1200) – Mean

Streak – Arcade Target Shooting – Space Spiral – Iron Dragon – [Lunch] – (1500)

Blue Streak – Disaster Transport in 3D – Wicked Twister – Wildcat – Sky Ride

Gondolas – Demon Drop – Molasses - Raptor (1800) – Watched Top Thrill Dragster

Test Runs – Gemini – Power Tower (2000) - Millennium Force (2200).

We watched Top Thrill Dragster test runs to see if we would be able to get on. The

line for this was about 3 hours long! After several good runs they finally put

some riders on and the car didn’t make it over then 410’ hill. Dustin yelled out, It’s a

roll-back! And sure enough it came right back down the way it went up. The

crowd went wild and the riders were cheering. They got another chance and it made

it over no problem the second time. The ride is really awesome. There are sound

effects like a ral dragster revving up and tearing off the line. There is a countdown

Christmas tree and grandstand for viewers. The boys got stuck on Demon Drop

(~130’ tall) just before the car dropped. There were two teenage girls stuck with

them as well. They were stuck for about 20 minutes. I happened to strike up a

conversation with a lady and her husband from Syracuse, NY; they had their daughter

and her fiend with them. It turned out that these were the girls stuck on the ride with

Drew & Dustin. They figured out there girls were up there, but I couldn’t tell

that the boys were also stuck until the ride finally came down. We were able see the

Canadian shoreline across Lake Erie later in the day on the taller rides. We had

Pizza at the hotel for dinner, had the boys talk to their mom’s and we were in bed at

midnight.

Wednesday Aug 20th

We spent 11

hours at ‘The Point’. I had the boys up at 7AM, ate breakfast at the buffet in the

hotel. We were in the park at 0900.

15 Rides: Top Thrill Dragster -

Raptor – Wicked Twister – Magnum – Molasses - Millennium Force (1400) – [Lunch

at the 50’s Diner] Power Tower - Magnum XL200 – Gemini – Power Tower (1600)

– Blue Streak – Raptor (1700) – Mantis – Corkscrew - Wicked Twister – Wildcat

(2000)

The boys ran all the way to Top Thrill Dragster as soon as the

park opened. I caught up with them. It was a good day as the ride was working

great. We only had to wait about 45 minutes. What a ride! Takes your breath

away. The picture booth wasn’t working, so we missed a chance to get a photo.

We got freeway passes for Millennium Force and Magnum. The passes are the only

way to go for the best rides. I let the boys run around from about 1400 on. It was

a lot warmer and very humid today. They will have to validate the rides listed from

that time on. Dustin decided to leave at about 2000 today so they could get a little

more sleep to ensure they enjoyed the last day. Drew bought us dinner from

TGIFriday’s. We still didn’t get to bed until midnight!

Thursday Aug 21st

We spent 14 hours at ‘The Point’. I had the boys

up at 7AM, but they were tired. I convinced them that they needed to get moving for

the in early. Ate breakfast at the buffet in the hotel. We were in the park at 0900.

16 Rides: Top Thrill Dragster – [Water Park until 1400] - Magnum –

Power Tower – Arcade Games – Molasses - Disaster Transport in 3D – Antique

Cars – Iron Dragon – Train – Mean Streak – White Water Landing – Cedar Creek

Mine Ride (1700) – Wildcat - Raptor – Blue Streak – Raptor - Millennium Force –

Top Thrill Dragster [2230]

I dropped the boys off and had to go back to

the hotel to get the gear for the water park. When I got to the park at 0910 I went to

the Top Thrill Dragster, but didn’t see them inline or on the ride. I watched for a

while until the ride broke down. I finally went to the water park entrance to get in

line for the 1000 opening so we could get a shade spot under a cabana for the day. I

was waiting in line and then the boys waved me up front. They were first

inline! They had ran all the way to Top Thrill Dragster as soon as the park

opened again and were on in the first ten minutes. The picture that was taken was

not good as arms blocked their faces.

The boys went off to ride some of

the water slides for a few hours. We picked up some souvenirs during the day. I

hauled all the stuff back to the car and that’s when I noticed it was a whole lot

warmer and muggier today! My shirt was soaked by the time I walked from the

water park to the car! Rain was forecast for the day, but it didn’t rain on us,

which was great. I let the boys run around from about 1400 on. They decided that

the last two rides of the trip needed to be on the best rides there. They rode

Millennium Force and got a great picture. We got inline for Top Thrill Dragster. It

was past park closing when they finally got on. They had decided they would ride in

the front car to ensure a great picture. They rode with hands up the whole way. It

was a great photo. We were scrambling for last minute gifts and talked a

storekeeper into letting us in to buy three sweatshirts. The boys clearly finished off

the Point in style! It was a great trip all in all and I’d do it again.

Back at the hotel we ate some McNuggets. The wind was blowing and there were

reports of tornados in Lower Michigan. Some college kids set off the fire alarm in

the hotel at midnight just as we were going to go to sleep. I had the boys quickly

leave the hotel and head top the lobby. They did great. We were told it was a false

alarm and by the time we got back the alarm was turned off. People were slow to

evacuate the hotel, especially those with kids.

Friday Aug 22nd

Up at 7AM. Checked out of the hotel, picked up some breakfast on the go,

gassed up and headed for the Cross Roads of America - Valparaiso, Indiana. Drove

~ 3.5 hours into Valpo. The weather was perfect. Drew was once again the

designated tollbooth change guy and Dustin the trusty navigator. The boys again slept

for about 2 hours. Arrived at Dee and Jack’s. Jack was home and showed us his

new Explorer Sport-Trac. Very nice ride. Dee showed up with deep-dish pizza and

salad. We stayed for a while and took off to Chicago. Dee wanted us to stay a

while longer. Hit a solid 3 mile wall of traffic at the toll into Illinois and finally

maneuvered into the outside lane and made some progress. The Skyway Bridge had

some delays as well and we were able to get off on Garfield just as Chicago traffic on

the toll way backed up. Crazy drivers on Garfield/55th Street with lots of folks

driving across the median to keep moving. We were clearly not in the affluent part of

town and Drew noticed a ‘Cease Fire Zone’ sign on a brick wall, which probably tells

it all. We had great fortune in getting the car turned in and immediately got on a

shuttle to the airport. There was no line to get checked in (took maybe 15 minutes)

and the same was true for getting through security. So, we were unexpectedly ready

to board ~2 hours before the flight. I bought the boys an ice cream and magazines.

Flew into San Diego and landed 20 minutes ahead of schedule. Sue was able to drive

up with the truck and we threw the bags in the back and took off.

END *

I was SO lucky to go. No one in my family likes

coasters and i get to go to maybe 2 parks a year if im lucky. Knott's and SFMM.

Not bad parks just not many. Also my parents are losers. I planned out a day to go to

SFMM Fright Fest this year and they said i couldn't go unless do comunity

service (im gonna) and join a club (school oriented). It

sucks!!!!
