Hey everyone, I am back with another coaster and this time I am going for a recreation of Iron Gwazi at Busch Gardens Tampa. I have been wanting to do another wooden coaster and an RMC type coaster so why not do both at once! Rollerfreak987 will be helping out with some of his pieces for the second half of the layout as we will only be using the scremain serpent pieces to help improve the appearance of the coaster. So far we have built the station, storage area, lift hill, outward overbank and the first inversion. Its pretty difficult shaping the track for these elements as the flexi rods and x-ties do not want to twist as fast as the track does on an RMC but we can get the track very smooth once its complete. The speed is fairly consistent from the strong structure and track work, all those track to support connectors pay off in the end! The TV stand will be moved later on so we can build the elements after the wave turn. This is gonna be my new building space, and I think it has a large amount of space to build great layouts. There is a lot of pictures for this update so hope you enjoy them.

Wow oh Wow! This is wonderful! The track work and structure looks great, and it's so fun getting to see 2 users getting to build together. I always find the station and lift hill the worst to build at the end of a coaster so I'm sure getting those done ahead of time will be great for later.

Good luck with the rest of the layout as I'm sure the banking and turning will only get a bit more difficult. Hope to see some progress soon!

I always struggle with the same. I usually finish the coaster and then don't to work on the details like catwalks or station platforms so we got it out of the way.  Surprisingly the lift hill only took me like an hour to build, so that was super simple. The track and trains really do not like the RMC style of building.

I'm getting so much nostalgia from this thread. It's bringing back memories from years ago.

It's also so exciting working with IOA again on another project. We met on this website nearly 10 years ago and we now live in the same city for the first time so we're going to be working hard to get this done and do it to the best of our ability!

Such a beautiful model! The death roll looks particularly amazing, especially with the way the train slows going into it! You've done a fantastic job emulating the support structure as well (love those catwalks too).

Yeah I wanted to get those two parts done first so we have enough pieces for the rest of the coaster. Thank you!

Haha get excited! You always need the details to make it more realistic for the viewers.

Haha I just like saving as much speed as I can, they can get frustrating sometimes if there is not a spot to connect the piece onto the structure.

Good to see you back, it does take a few tries to fix the shaping but I can get it to how I want the element to look like in the end.

Yeah that was a pretty tricky element, the flexi rods make it easier to get the correct shaping and then I add the rest of the connectors to strengthen the track.

The next turn and brake run have been completed, it wasn't as hard as the last element but was tricky to get the correct height for the train to have realistic speed going through the turn. It was pretty fun coming up with a support structure for the top of the element, and it turned out to be very strong by using smaller rods. There should be enough speed for the train to complete the remaining elements in the layout. Enjoy the pictures and test video!

I literallly bought like 400 green connectors in one sitting back in 2013 or so solely for more TTS connections. Now I'm realizing that I need a few hundred more Y-connectors, too.

I can't find any shaping problems, so you're good to go. (thumbsup) Yes, everyone. You're not allowed to continue building until I have checked your shaping. I'm just kidding btw.

Awesome! Yeah its a great ride for sure, really intense pacing!

Both wave turns have been completed in this update, the second wave turn barely fits but I am glad it does perfectly. It took a few tries to get the shaping and length correct but they turned out pretty well in the end. Its hard to get that quick transition into the first wave turn with the k'nex track and tubing, so this is the best we could get it to. The speed of the train is great so far and there should be enough to complete the rest of the layout. Hope you enjoy the pictures and test video!

In this next update, the stall over the first drop, the outward banked turn, and the two airhills that cross over the second drop have been completed. The stall was pretty difficult to construct at first by trying to figure out what the best height is for the trains to have realistic speed through the element. I wanted to make the stall as tall as I could. Connecting it with the structure of the first drop helped strengthen the stall and reduced it from shaking when a train passes through. The rest of the elements were not to hard to build, using the flexi rods helped shape the elements easily and I think they turned out pretty well. The height loss for the two air hills was as I planned it to be. There should be plenty of speed left to complete the rest of the layout. One more update left before the final video! Hope you enjoy the pictures and test video!

God, what a monster!  Looks incredible so far.

Thank you! It has been a fun yet challenging coaster to build!

For the final update the turn after the two bunny hills, the last airtime hill, the turn into the brake run, and the brake run have been completed. We were running low on pieces towards the end but rollerfreak987 had some extra pieces to complete the rest of the layout. The brakes turned out really well, they are simple to make yet very effective as they bring the train to a smooth and realistic stop every time. The train can now complete the layout by itself with the help of a pusher at each chain drive. This has been of the most best recreations we have ever built and it turned out better than expected!

Dude, that is fantastic! The speed and energy conservation is probably the best I've ever seen. So much attention to detail in all areas of the ride. I also agree that this is up there as one of the best K'nex coasters ever made.
