I think I might know a way to make the lego nxt motors work with knex.

build some thing that you can mount the motor and a lego rod coming out of it (however it works I don't have an nxt) with a wheel on the rod ,and a rubber band on the wheel.

now you make a rod with the knex gears on it with a knex wheel on the rod (with a tan clip to make it turn) and now you make the rubber band stretch to the knex wheel.

add this to your roller coaster and it should work.

remember I don't have Lego NXTs ,but this is my thought. and Idont think this is how people do this but i think it would work.

i hope I helped I think a few people wanted to know how to do this.

Yea, I tried that and it works great, but not on a coaster, just to see if it worked.

arg why dosn't it work ,not enough tork? if so make the wheel on the motor rely small and the wheel on the knex part bigger. I know there are some small lego wheels.

I already used it on Thunder Giant's station. You put the grey Lego spacers on a large rod, and stick the red gears on it. (The spacers are about the same diameter as a k'nex rod.) Then put the large K'nex gears on the sides of the red gears, keeping them in place, and put a straightened paper clip through all of the gears.

Yeah, confusing.

thats cool I'd of never thought of that!

Farthest set of gears on the right. There's a paper clip making them spin together.

yeah I figured that out yesterday I did it a little differently if you have any lego tubing then you you can put a short strand of that through a 1x2 lego teknic through the gears and it will work and then another 1x2 teknic.

what do you mean put spacers in the red gears or do you mean close to them?
