I have just completed my first custom coaster

since i got my first SS set.

The lift is 3ft 7in (my second tallest coaster). I

say 2 1/2 inversions becoause the first two is a Sea Serpent ala Madusa West and the

1/2 is an overbanked turn. I just say 1/2 because of all the arguments about it being an

inversion or not.

I have some pics of the completed coaster. (excuse the

darknes of the photos)

The first one is an overview of the inversions,

station and brake run:

That is very good for your first model allthough you

caould use a little more supports on the drop but you probably dont have enough

peices. Aside of that its realy good keep up the good work.

Hey thanks for the reply and comment. Yea i

realize that there's not alot of supports, but thats only because i dont like having

to many supports and trying to build tall supports come out too flimsy. Other than that,

i suprisingly have enough pieces to build another coaster.

Here's

another pic of the (unfinished) station: (pic is sideways)

wow, your very talented for your first coaster. Even

though it doesnt have many supports it looks very smooth and fairly sturdy. Thats a

fairly nice station too. :P

Great coaster. I would conside the over bank an

inversion. I would consider it a cutback. The banked drop is awesome and I that is

the first sea serpent I have seen out of K'NEX.

You could just say its a cutback and have 3

inversions.

If it is angled more than 135 degrees, it is an invertion. It

looks great!!!

i thought the rule for an inversion was if it was

completely upside down it was an inversion

I thought it was 145 degrees and that sea serpent

isn't really straight. I love it though. But this is a straight sea serpent.Sea Serpent

Nitro, thats why it is a custom model. An invertion is

counted as 135 degrees or up. Thats why inclined loops are invertions.(They are

slanted at 45 degrees)

Go Broncos!

Nice compact design. I'd question the

clearance of the tight turns at the end and before the lift. My train always rub or bump

the cross ties, and the ones I've built weren't that tight. But a really nice

first custom. That support beam of knex (drop) was something I was thinking would

be sweet to try, a B&M-like support, though the lateral support would be hard to

pull off (since the real ones are bolted to concrete pillars buried 40 or so feet in the

ground). But yours look nice. Keep it up.

Im lovin the replies!

To answer

a few questions-

sfmm_freak: I haven't added the cain just yet

because i might have to make the lift and drop higher. It crawls from the second half

of the sea serpent to the brake run.

gravitiatic: Hey, thanks for noticing

the B&M support. I came up with that way before SS came out, when i still had

my original Knex Coaster up. I plan on getting a load of the goldenrods and white

circles so i can make a coaster completely with B&M supports. I understand

what u mean with the rubbing against ties. Im in the process of tweaking the turns,

because as of right now it wont make it far enough up the lift from the station.

gforce: Thanks for the compliment, and it is very, very sturdy. Hardly any

movement at all!

Well, again, thank you all for the replies. I plan on

finishing this one by the end of the week, plus im already in the works for my second

coaster. Ive always wanted to do an official anouncement so be on the lookout for a

press release sometime in Jan. 2004!

I really just have to compliment you on the B&M

supports. They look cool and conserve pieces. Bye for now. I'm off to

school.

I don't know about conserving pieces on

supports if you just have a few serpent sets. But I saw that and was like woah!,

because it's just such a cool change from the usual intamin supports, those are

fine. If you don't mind I might have to try that some time. That would be the

coolest thing if somebody made a whole coaster with those style supports. Great Great

coaster especially for your first. I love the first drop, it reminds me of the drop off of

superman kryptonite's break run, it's very smooth. Does the train make it

to the angle up into the lift from the slight drop from the station ? Great job, I LOVE

smooth coasters. It's such a relief to see smooth coasters.

PlatinumCoasters:

Yoy may be my guest

and use the support design. I have no problem if anyone wants to use it. I build to

inspire. And to answer your other question, it just makes it to the lift. I have to put the

chain on to see if it will engage. Im working on that at the time of this post. Thanks for

the reply and compliment.
