My friend whom I went to Carowinds with came up to visit his family in New Jersey. We met up and I started plotting what could possibly be done. I knew my count was at 147 and that Lake Compounce had 3 coasters so I thought, what better than have one of the greatest CCI creations be my 150th coaster. After persuading my mom to take us, we started the 2.5 hour drive up to Lake Compounce.

Once we finally got there, I was appauled at the terrible signing the park has. I know this park is old, but they need to do a little bit better than this.

The entrance was all I thought it to be, beautiful. It was so unique and old looking and the lift to the Wildcat fits perfectly behind the array of structures.

We headed to Zoomerang first, a Vekoma Boomerang but I was met with the coolest looking trains ever. They were Glittery blue and purple. Sounds gay, but they looked really sweet. As for the ride, there was minimal headbanging but the layout is not great, as most of you know.

Then I headed for Wildcat, a 1927 woodie. I think this is the second oldest ride next to Jack Rabbit at Kennywood that I have been on. It was alright, had a few laterals but very little airtime.

I grabbed a free soft beverage, like at Holiday World, and walked up the hill to Boulder Dash. I was disappointed to see that they were only running one train. But it looked like the blue train was broken because a mechanic was attending to it for about an hour. After a 25 minute wait for the back, I was riding the first ever coaster built into the side of a mountain...disappointment.

I got off the ride a little bit upset. It was bumpy, had little airtime, and seemed slow. I walked down the hill to Downtime (S&S Freefall) and rode that. Average freefall, offered a nice view of the lake though.

I decided I would give Boulder Dash one more try, I had a feeling that I was missing out on its true ride experience. So we waited another 20 minutes for front. Going up the lift was already better than the last ride. It is so sick how you are no more than 10 feet off the ground going up the lift, but then you reach the crest and the turnaround and get a full view of the park. Then you plunge into a weakly banked drop that offers very forceful laterals. You then are lifted out of your seat when you pop over a little airhill then approach some ejector airtime on the double up. After three or four more airhills, you hit the turnaround. The turnaround is what made this ride unique in my opinion. It is banked at no more than 25* and your trucking at 50mph's minimum. So you really get the sense of an old woodie with the forces and its unique for these days. Then on your voyage back to the station, you just get massive amounts of airtime. I think that more than half this ride is on the up-stop wheels. Its insane.

I am proud to say that Boulder Dash was my 150th coaster and that it was also my 4th favorite woodie behind Toro, Beast, and Voyage respectively. The park itself was really nice but would be virtually nothing without Boulder Dash.
