This thread is made to give everyone all the information about these private subforums that shamu and I have been talking about.

The idea behind a private subforum is to provide a space on the forums for companies to "do business", if you will, regarding all aspects of their company. In order to protect prospective patented ideas, trade secrets, and other delicate information regarding the companies, these forums have been opened to only the members of the company and the SSC Staff. All SSC Staff can read threads, but only BGTKing, Shamu, Jogumpie and myself have permissions to post in these private subforums. The idea behind this is to let companies have a space to work without fear of their ideas being stolen, but the SSC Staff MUST have access to the subforums to moderate them.

Moderators: since you cannot post in these subforums, please relay information about issues in these subforums to either BGTKing or myself. Shamu, you should do the same, unless the issue can be resolved by dialog.

Another note: if you are not part of a company and somehow you can see their subforum, i urge you to contact me to fix the permissions issue. This shouldn't be a problem, but just in case i overlook something i NEED to know this. The privacy of the companies must be respected and chances are if you can see the subforum, so can a lot of other people who shouldn't be able to.

As of now i'm in the middle of adding the currently registered companies to the meeting rooms subforum, so if your area isn't up yet it should be soon.

Please use this thread to ask any questions regarding the subforums. Please report issues with them to BGTKing or myself via PM.

If we have asked to join a company via PM, how do we become officially part of the company? Is that the job of the SSc staff or do we have to sort it out somehow?

An admin has to set the permissions for you to see the forum.

I've got a few administrative things to do today, and adding members to companies is one of them. You should be a part of steelway by tonight, as well as all other hired members.

Couldn't adding be done with the groups function. I was sure there was the ability to set a "Group" in vB that is run by certain members, but do not need to have administrative powers. They can add or remove members from the group, and invite members. Or maybe I'm thinking of phpBB, where I use the feature extensively...

I'm sorry i've been pretty absent the past week or so...lots of projects for the end of school. If there are any outstanding company additions or changes please PM me tonight and i'll take care of them. Company heads only please...contact your newest additions to see if they have access to the subforums, and if not please send me a list of those that need to be added.
