I was just wondering if there is much info about the Lava Launch set that is coming up soon. I searched and couldn't find a topic on this site. From what I can see it looks like it will have a launcher like the ripping rocket but it will work on the micro track. Amazon says it comes out July 8th but there isn't anything on the k'nex site. Has anyone else found any info?

The green one is Loopin' lightning. It is 662 pieces. July 8th release. Amazon shows $50 but I hope that isn't the case. The dragon drop had about 800 pieces and wasn't that much. The amazon says it is 1303 pieces for the Lava Launch and $95. Those prices just don't seem right to me and you would think that they would be putting up info on the k'nex site about the release. They are only talking about the collect 4 airplane thing they are releasing. Just didn't know if anyone knew better info about them because the Lava Launch looks great and that launcher could make the set worth getting. It takes out the lift but some real coasters are using things besides lifts now so it could open up stuff for the micro track.

Knex doesn't care about what's realistic at all -- all they care about is what people will like better, and ultimately what will make them more money.

It also looks like there are turns at 45* or less on the Loopin' Lightning from the pictures they show on amazon.

On the second pic, the turn after the lift. The last turn - not so much.

On the third pic, the turn right after the lift, the turn right under the motor, ans the helix at the end.

Maybe I don't know the terms well enough yet. Might need to go out and research them. Will just wait and see about the sets. The lightning looks basic but the lava should be a good one. Not much longer from the release date but those prices still don't look right.

It's past the release date and they aren't even on knex.com. You can buy them off amazon, but the lava launch is still $94.99 and loopin' lighting is $49.99. That seems like it's too high.

Amazon says they have 2 left of lava launch and the loopin lightning is sold out. It looks correct because Amazon also listed the upcomming airplane set they are doing. Might have gotten the wrong release date or something. It looks like they normally release in July so will just wait and see how it goes. I plan on getting the two sets(might have to wait depending on the actual price) and will do a review of the sets themselves and the pieces you get.

ooo, I'll be getting this set. I've got the VV, Serpent Spiral and Renegade Run (90f worth of track) Trying to make a realistic coaster! But with the inverter car and the booster. Someone could do a recreation of a shuttle coaster! lol

A little update on this. I checked the knex website and in the club knex designer interview they said that the coaster will come out in August. I'm not sure why amazon got theirs early(or if they actually have any) but the release date they had was wrong so the price might be wrong with them as well. Sets are released each January and August.

As the above post said, the new coasters are out.
Lava Launch
1,303 pieces(mostly micro)
$75 at knex website
This includes boosters for the micro tracks. Requires 3 C batteries. You have to use micro pieces to hold the booster in place.

Loopin Lightning
615 pieces (More then half Regular size, not sure on exact split)
$40
It is confirmed to have curved tracks for the micro tracks. The exact number is unknown and how many it would take to make a complete circle is also unknown. Given time I might go to walmart or target tommorrow and pick up a set of loopin lightning. The other I will have to wait longer on because of money issues. A full review will be put up when I get it.

I watched the video of the lava launch on the knex website and the second model they showed you could also build looked really cool.

I plan on ordering the two sets as soon as I get homefrom my vacation on monday, but has anyone noticed how the red coaster car looks strange in the pictures and videos of lava launch,so Im wondering wether its a special, different car like RR got its own launching car??
