You read it right, I am recreating TTD!...

I know what your thinking though...

Another boring old TTD with a launch run that is way too short, and a one car rubberband launch to the top. I mean there has even been a TTD with tube supports how much farther could it go right?...

Wrong!...

The perfectionist in me really loves perfect scales of things. So a little bit of thinking big, like always, and a little inspiration from just visiting CP, I decided to make a 1/28th scale of TTD. What does such an accurate scale entail? Well if you multiply 420ft by the scale you get 15ft. With a little help from google earth and reference pictures the length is about 980ft. Multiple that by the scale and you get 35ft. The width is about 105ft, making the scale 3.75ft...

What does this all mean you ask?..

A true scale model of TTD that is 35ft long, 15ft high, and nearly 4ft wide!...

This will all be on top of a one granite rod high base. Why?, well I am planning on not using the whole pull rubberband back system that all the previous ones were launched with. Instead I believe that with your guys help we can find a way to get a coaster that high. We have a lot of track to work with, 35ft is a long way...

Construction has already begun, and pictures will be up very soon. I hope you guys are as excited as I am...

Oh, and another thing, keep it within Aminspec. I want to surprise the rest of SSC...

Great Idea! I never realized that rocket coasters had such long straight aways.
With 35 feet of track to work with, I'm sure there's a way to make a better launch. When are you planning to start?

Wow! I think it's great for you to get building again. :)

The dimensions don't sound too big or too small. Maybe you could try magnetic brakes.

^^Construction has already started. I will have pics up in about five...

^I was thinking of doing a magnetic braking system. This would add more weight to the train though so this would have to be done after we get the train over the tophat...

Edit: Pics!...

These will all be connected to create just the launch!...

If you really want to make it accurate this is what you could do.

I'm around 5 foot tall so i'll just use that. First you do 420ft divided by 5ft feet, which is 84ft, then you find out how tall a little k'nex guy is that fits in the coaster and multiply the hight of the k'nex guy by 84. That will make it have a lot more accurate height. Looks awesome so far, can't wait to see this thing finished.

1/28th is good enough for me. I already have everything scaled to that...

Here is it your way though...

The average person it probably about 5'8" or so...

The k'nex figures with legs would be around 2"...

That ratio is 1:34 from that...

Considering the trains they sit in are a little big, and much longer then they should be, the scale of them is probably closer to 1:24 or so...

If your average the two you roughly get about a 1/28th scale. That is why I chose it. Plus it makes it easier when the scale goes into the height exactly. 420/28 = 15...

It's strange, I was wondering what happened to you...

Looks good, as always. The only thing I would change are the half moon connectors on the launch into the granite cubes you have for the tower base, but that's more just personal preference if anything.

Glad to see your back and building though! It's been such a long time. And also, have you decided on a launch method yet?
