Hey everyone!

Its been awhile since Ive posted but I have still been lurking!

Anyways, my family is taking a trip to California this July and my dad told me that we could go to a theme park out there. I have narrowed it down to these two. Having been to neither of them, I need some input from those who have or have knowledge about the parks that I lack. I am sort of leaninf towards SFMM but I'm not sure yet..... So if you guys could give me your opinion and maybe a breif reason or two of why you chose which park, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Theres no comparing. Go to SFMM. Less busy, more Coasters, better Quality Coasters. Lots of one of a kind coasters, like tatsu, X2, Superman.

I prefer six flags as well, because you can get a season pass and go several days.

Alright, Thats what I ws thinking but my dad kept saying " Knotts Berry Farm has excellent ratings" but I kept telling him SFMM had better rides. Besides I believe you can use your season pass to all Six Flags locations if Im not mistaken and I have one to Six Flags St Louis since its only a 20 minute drive.

SFMM, no contest. Knott's is okay, but Magic Mountain is SO much better.

Yes, Magic Mountain for sure, especially with your Six Flags St Louis pass (you can use it). It's a lot of great rides with free admission. With that said, now you just have to convince him to do Knott's as well!

Yes, SF has awesome season pass deals. Last year I paid $50, went to SFoG for 3 days, and could of gone anywhere else in the chain for free. WTH does CF charge $150 for a pass like that? I have no idea.

Heck, I was gonna buy a SFKK pass for 30 bucks with the trips that were in the planning (Turned out just to be one SF park instead of potential 3). Honestly though, I'm not sure why Six Flags passes are priced as low as they are. It'll attract more numbers through the gates, but that doesn't exactly mean more shops or food sales. A full day at KI for me usually consists of spending $20-25 for food and drinks. Even with a $160 Platinum Pass, I'm saving myself hundreds of dollars on park admission as it is, especially this year. $160 dollars for unlimited access to so many reachable parks is still an extremely great deal. Maybe it's just because I'm in the heart of Cedar Fair's "kingdom", but how Six Flags lets that fly for so little baffles me.

They want people to come to the parks again. Before the changes the last couple years, the park experiences were quite terrible. They want people that were turned away to come back again, and if it is cheap, they are more likely to decide to do it.

And SF parks aren't? All the SFs I've been to have been amazingly fun.

They have great rides, just typically aren't the best staffed.

I have actually never had any problem with the staff at Magic Mountain. It may be different at other SF parks, but my impression of SFMM's staff has been pretty good over the past few years.
I think the biggest problem with SFMM is the crowd. When I went to Cedar Point, I was amazed at how nice the guests were in general. Of course that's probably because SFMM is in southern California, which they can't help.

i was told that sfmm was just a place for thugs to hang out. but i guess that has changed since that person was there. all my times at sfmm have been wonderfull. all you really have to do is not go in the predictable circle of rides (revolution, x2, viper, tatsu, goldrusher, deja vu, terminator, riddlers, batman, scream, collosus, goliath) instead do something different. sprint to tatsu or x2, one of the unique rides, then just go to the rides you want if you get there early you can go on every ride in the park at least once doing that.

Does SFMM sell flash passes? Because whenever I go to SFGAdv, I ALWAYS buy the gold flash pass. Sure it's like 200 bucks for me and 2 friends, but holy shit. We get like atleast 25 rides on nitro 1 right after the other...and that's only nitro ;)
