Hey, could someone please tell me which sets use the plastic tubing instead of the metal pins as retailers do not make it clear and i dont want to buy a set with the old metal pin track. Thanks

I don't get what you're saying. If you're talking about regular tubing (SS, RR, ect.), then you can only get it online. K'Nex doesn't sell those kinds of sets anymore.

EDIT: Try eBay. The most common one is the Vertical Vengence, but the Serpent's Spiral and the Revengence Run also do. It's mainly the older ones.

Sorry i phrased it wrong. I meant which micro sets have the plastic ending on the track instead of the metal pins because retailers dont specify which one a set uses neither does the knex website

you have track with metal pins, like on serpent spiral, lava launched etc,

but also new track, like on loopin lightning, booster coaster, etc

I know loopin' lightning has the new track (plastic tabs) most of the older ones have metal pins. That was my main complaint about micro, they finally made banked turns but changed the track so it won't connect to my existing sets.

I'm used to the older ones like Serpent Spiral. I had sold my New Loopin' Lighting months ago so I don't really know much of the micro tabs you guys are talking about.

Ok let me clear this up.

The sets after lava launch and Looping lightning have plastic pins, HOWEVER lava launch and Loopin lightning are random. Sometimes you get pins sometimes you get plastic. I say this from experience as I have both sets and got the opposite of what everyone is saying. Hope this helped!

IMHO I like Loopin lightnin'...but i never owned a VV or lava launch. This is because every one that i have ever bought came with plastic end tabs and like the Stig pointed out, you get curved track pieces so that you can actually have turns that are not banked turns, or it widely opens up your curve banking options (ie. not every corner has to be banked at 90* or be an overbank, lol).

Unfortunately K'nex packs these sets with whatever parts are at hand. I have a Speed Coaster (original micro-amusement park series...there are now 3 series..) with instructions and box copyrighted 2009. The contents chart shows metal pinned half sized track segments. But my set was packed after the switch to all plastic track, so I have the new micro-track boxed with the original metal pin track instructions.
