Sup everyone, I recently heard from K'nex that they are making a set smaller then the $999.99 "Son of Serpent." It's going to be a SS type set so we won't keep having to buy off ebay of craigslist! What do you think?
BTW I found it on the Knex website under "Ask the Designer"

This has actually already been known, as we have contact with a few people at K'NEX. It was talked about somewhere near the end of this thread: http://www.sscoaster...-serpent-14143/

I'm interested where you heard this though?

It'll be cool to see the SS style sets in store. I'd buy one, and I've heard from Jogumpie that K'NEX will be producing them. What ever he says is true, right? :P

That designer also said: 'There is also another smaller set which uses the old style track currently in development that may be offered next year.'

Hopefully it is not dependent on the Son of Serpent doing well sales wise.

Kool Coaster Kid already hinted about these sets here: http://www.sscoaster...html#post375431

I'm actually not upset with those prices! $120 isn't bad! Before you guys complain, the SS was $100 I believe, and that was around 1000 pieces, 800 pieces for $120 isn't bad, with the economy the way it is, K'NEX are just more expensive to make now. Although we might not buy a whole lot of them, other people will, $120 isn't bad at all, I'm sure we'll see them start popping up on craigslist/ebay soon after, and then we'll get new pieces to build with. It also might lower the price of the SS! Classic K'NEX aren't VV, VV are small, and cheaper to make. That's why this is more expensive than VV.

Yay! I'm really happy that K'NEX is bringing these back!

I like it! Do notice it will be cheaper, the price for the SOS was 'suggested' at $1000, yet you can purchase it at Cosco for about $550 (if I remember correctly). An I think the same will happen with these new sets!

^I agree. $120 isn't too horrendous and piece for piece, certainly a lot better deal than the Son of Serpent. Given time to come down and them pushing other prices for SS down means good news for us. They are in about the right range for presents as well so I think K'nex have definitely judged these better. Good times. :D

They also said this:

In response to last year’s wildly successful launch of the Son of Serpent Coaster™ building set, the first coaster in 10 years to be made up entirely of all classic rods and connectors, K’NEX is thrilled to expand its roller coaster line with 2 new exciting, all-classic coasters.

If a coaster that expensive (SOS) had a wildly successful launch, these sets most likely will too:) I'm glad what direction these sets are going in. Also, we might see spare x-ties, and tubing on the spare parts shop again!

Sweet! I am really happy, especially about the eclipse one, it has blue tubing and black cross-ties! This means that SS - style building will last. This will fuel another generation of builders!

Both SS sets look awesome, I'm very excited for these to be released. I'm pleased and somewhat surprised that they've deemed bringing back the SS track style to be profitable, I was worried after seeing the price of the Son of Serpent. No arguments from me though! :D The micro spine is a big step in the right direction too.

PKI had pointed out the micro coaster with the flexi-rod spine back when Obama went to visit.
It's a great idea and I'm glad to see it being released with the other, new SS models.

I'm sure they see how popular SS is here and how much re-sale there is on eBay. They were losing a lot of potential business.

Comet Recreation still underway.
