So, in my summer holiday this year I went to the United States of America, great place to be. I flew in at San Francisco’s SFO airport, and after we rented a car, we visited Yosemite, felt what a 118 Fahrenheit felt like in Death Valley, saw the crazy city of Las Vegas, went awestruck in Bryce, Zion and Antelope national parks, got flabbergasted and felt exhausted in the Grand Canyon, and drove on towards LA, where I first visited some family in Escondido, and on the very last day, after about 2500 miles of freeway, highway, side roads, dirt roads, you name it, I went to Six Flags Magic Mountain, in which I had an awesome day full of exciting rides and running to go as many times as possible. That’s also the main reason why I didn’t take as many pictures as I wanted to, and with worse quality as I intended, we only arrived at the park at 11 and it closed at 6.

After some difficulties at the entrance (one of the self-printed tickets didn’t work), me and my family entered Magic Mountain at around 11 am.

First thing to do was the Revolution, pure nostalgic, because my dad paid a visit to the park 35 years ago, as an excited teenager just like I was this time. Even after 37 years the ride still provides quite a thrill. After the revolution, we joined the queue for Tatsu. And I must say, that ride has been the best in my entire life. The smooth turns, inversions and hills feel great, especially due to the flying position. The looping is pure extreme thrill, it pushed on the chest with huge force and the feeling is just phenomenal. Too bad I got to ride it once only.

[IMG][/IMG]

After Tatsu, we rode Ninja. Of all the rides I did that day, Ninja was the worst, also because of the long waiting time. It was the longest line of the day.

[IMG][/IMG]

After Ninja we entered the line for the Jetstream. The ride was very funny, unlike many other water rides, the boats of Jetstream don’t crash in the water and stop almost immediately but the sort of shoot over the water, like Jet skis :).

After Jetstream, my sister and I decided to visit the mighty ride of Superman: Escape from Krypton.

[IMG][/IMG]

Which was really cool, I must say. The launch takes so long and keeps speeding up, I think I screamed of joy and enthusiasm during the entire ride, although I can’t tell for sure because the noise that the coaster makes while making it’s bend towards the higher section is far above comfortable decibel level.

[IMG][/IMG]

After we had a pizza for lunch, we stood in the Riddler’s Revenge. The experience was very strange, standing in a roller coaster while making all kind of twists and turns and inversions. However, it was a pretty smooth ride and very enjoyable.

[IMG][/IMG]

After the Riddler’s Revenge, we cooled down in the Tidal wave. There was no line, yet it was quite pleasant as the temperatures touched the 95 degrees Fahrenheit. My mom and dad were a bit fed up with the roller coasters, my mom never enjoyed them too much and my dad had a headache, too bad. So, for some more nostalgic feelings of my dad we went in the Colossus, which I must say is a great coaster, mainly because of its 3 minutes ride duration and the idea of high speeds due to the sound of old wooden coaster and the shaking of the train.

[IMG][/IMG]

So we split up, my mom and dad went somewhere?? and my sister and I continued our adventure through the park. First thing we did after the Colossus was Scream, which is a crazy coaster. It’s pretty smooth, and with its seven inversions makes up for quite a dizzy feeling afterwards. Overall a good ride, in my opinion the second best looping of my life.

[IMG][/IMG]

After Scream, my sister and I went in Lex Luther’s Drop of Doom. It really is a drop of doom, while falling it’s impossible to make any sound, as one’s stomach blocks his throat, leaving no room for his lungs and no air left, therefore leaving the falling one with only one option: Enjoy the awesome feeling of the longest free fall probably of his life. One-hundred-and-twenty meters of awesomeness, with a maximum speed of 85 miles an hour.

[IMG][/IMG]

After our insane airtime experience, my sister and I went in the mighty Goliath. This literally the first ride where everything turned black and little shiny stars dazed in front of my eyes of a second of two, but I could still feel everything during these seconds and I remember screaming ‘I see stars!’ to my sister. The drop is great, the tunnel and the part towards the MCBR is pure speed. After that point, the ride includes a full spiral downwards at some point, and that caused my daydreaming through the universe. Nonetheless, great ride.

[IMG][/IMG]

After Goliath, we went to see if the line for Full Throttle was doable. And a great shock went through me, the ride was malfunctioning! I felt really sad about that, it seemed such an awesome ride earlier that day. Too bad. We continued our tour through the park towards X2, looking for the four dimensions.

[IMG][/IMG]

This ride was most disappointing to me. It caused a massive headache, I had absolutely no clue of where on the track I was located, I was scared to death that I would lose my shoes, phone, wallet and my sisters phone because of the wild uncomfortable spinning of the carts, and I felt happy when it was over. Quite a thrill, not my thing.

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

Still disappointed, my sister and I walked back towards the center of the park to see which ride we would do next. When, all of the sudden and just in front of us, park officials declared Full Throttle for completely rehabilitated! So the line was pretty short and the ride was awesome. Especially the part in which the launch is just fast enough to clear the looping, so instead of being pushed in the seat as regular loopings have, the rider just hangs in the safety bar upside down. Easily the best looping in my life. The reverse launch is also a great addition to the ride, and when I thought it was over, as the tophat was almost cleared, the final drop (which is about 49 meters – 160 feet) is already potential of extreme awesomeness on its own.

After Full Throttle, our time at Six Flags Magic Mountain – and with that our time in the States – came almost to an end. Me and my dad did the Drop of Doom once more, he kind of regretted missing the first time, and after that we went home. All in all, I had a great day and would recommend everyone to pay the park a visit when it’s within a 150 miles of your route in the States – it’s worth it!

I hope you enjoyed reading my trip report on Magic Mountain. Greetings and lots of fun when you visit the park yourself, now from the Netherlands,

Funny, I went to the park a day before you did! :)
Looks like you had a great time there! Coincidentally, there was a delay with Full Throttle when I visited the park, so I had to wait a bit before I could go on it.
