After a couple model iterations, I have developed a car chassis that will sufficiently hold a go pro for POV's of SS coasters, or at least so far it looks sufficient.....

With the help of Choas and his coasters we'll most likely be putting it to the test in the next couple weeks/month.

I'm curious how this will behave as the camera/car is a decent amount heavier than the standard car/train...mmh.

Not sure if anyone has made a car yet to hold an action camera, but any pointers and suggestions are welcome!

Thanks,

Looks nice! Is the housing for the GoPro just flat, or is it recessed into the body? I don't know much about GoPros, but is it possible to take it apart at all while still being functional to make it lighter?

Sad that I no longer have 69 internets

Thanks! I'm new to Go Pros but it looks like the whole camera is integrated and you can't take the case/body off, good idea though. Maybe I could get a smaller camera that doesn't weigh as much...

The weight is a slight issue, but everything else seems to work on the car. Tested it out on Chaos's RMC rooftop coaster and it made it over some elements and not others, most likely due to the weight. We're thinking a full train/longer train can help to conserve the momentum and displace the weight more, so we'll see.

Hopefully you all will see some POV's in the coming weeks/months!

Have you considered any other brands as well that might be smaller and lighter? I don't know anything about action cameras, but I feel like something smaller than the GoPro should exist.

And with the weight, maybe it would help if the camera car was more in the middle of a train.

Aww yeah more innovation.  I'm sure you can find a smaller and lighter camera these days, probably for decently cheap too.  I'd definitely look around.
