Going Back for Master's for some reason

I've been busy this weekend trying to create a working transfer station, like on Expedition Everest or Hagrid's Motorbike Adventure. I've made a lot of progress. I've gotten to the point where the individual components just need to be triggered in order. I'm planning on using a ball to run through and trigger each component like a ball machine. The ball in the video is weighted, as it pushes a lever that releases the mechanism that holds the track to its entry position, and will probably stay on its own mini network (the lift shown in the video is not currently operational). The other ball doesn't need to be weighted.

Here's a video. I tried to get a snapshot of each component to really show how it works.

I've changed some of the components and slimmed down some of the elements, so now it all runs on a single trigger. Now I gotta figure out how to get that trigger to reach the train. I'm gonna start more on the track work for now, backwards to the lift, and then worry about that.

Excellent mechanical work! I think this is more impressive than just having a Raspberry Pi or whatever running transfers etc.

There's an avatar I haven't seen in a looong time. How you doing?

I find the mechanical elements more fun to design, I do enough coding in my research that this is a nice change of pace.

Haha, yeah I pop onto SSC once every 3 months or so - I can never let it go fully!

As good as one can be in the current state of the world, how are you?

I think it's especially beautiful when it comes together like this - what's the plan for the mechanism? A fly-through on the station?

I love how you're able to shut the motors off and turn them on with those levers or contacts. Really nice work with knex mechanical automation!can't wait to see the ride layout...that setup does take up a considerable amount of space.

I have a bit to clean up but the coaster isn't dead. I did remove the space consuming ball track from the first motor to trigger the second, I'll figure that part out later. Probably continue the track you see in the video. But, it's at least triggered automatically by the train itself.

That is sick man! Love it. I had to watch it a couple times to realize exactly what was going on. nicely done!

This is amazing! The transfer track was so seamless I didn't notice at first.

That is so cool! The transfer track works beautifully! Cannot wait to see how this develops further!

It would be so cool if this ride also had some kind of LSM type launch in the middle. So many possibilities.
