I would connect all five of the supports for the overbank with a single rod between each of them. 1) It would be realistic and 2) More support.

Thanks. This made the whole structure a bit sturdier. It also looks quite cool this way. I will post a picture of it when I update again.

From the video it sounds like your train needs lubed, it is kinda noisy.

That overbanked turn is so much better than Anarchy's...haha! I like the new drop too. What's next, a hill?

Today I was going to build an airtime hill with an upward turn as lead-in. The result wasn't what I expected (it was very SiSta-ish). That's why I chose a quite large bückel, so that also means airtime!

Unfortunately I built one support too high, causing the track to be not smooth at all. That is why I don't have new pictures.

The bückel will be a bit shorter than the overbanked turn.

Interestingly good.

You know, I'm just listening to Pink Floyd, and then I saw this, and I got an urge to have an apple pie. Damnit, now you've made me hungry.

Enjoy.

As said before, horizontal braces have been added to the overbanked turn.

Posted Image

And construction on the bückel has started. I expect this element much harder to build than the overbanked turn.

How are the supports holding so far? Mine seemed very unsturdy in the lateral direction. Each support depended on the track and others around it to stay in position.

Great job on this JoGGGGGgggggggumpie! Man, I'm very jealous of your skills. Perfect style. I love the supports, along with everything.

Of course I don't have much to suggest (I just wanted to pronounce the Dutch "G",:tmbs ). But an overview would be nice.

How are the supports holding so far? Mine seemed very unsturdy in the lateral direction. Each support depended on the track and others around it to stay in position.

Take a look at this picture:

http://www.dutchdeta...truction_19.jpg

At the right you will see a smaller version of the tube support with lateral brace.

Because of the flat 'supports' on the ground, a triangle is made. This triangle can barely move!.. At least, not into the direction the lateral brace is facing. Because the lateral brace is not bolted to the floor, the supports can swing the other way around.

But, because of the symmetry of the overbank, the support on the other side prevents this swinging. And vice versa.

The lateral braces on the lift hill are free to move, but the speed is low so there are practically no forces making it swing sideways.

The lateral braces on the upcoming bückel are connected to the floor underneath the first drop and the lift. The weight of the lift causes its floor to stay where it is, so the lateral brace of the bückel cannot move either.

You just need to think what to support where. It is no coincidence coaster designers use this type of supports, they also know how to minimize the forces on the structure.

Wow...that was a long post.

Well like when I finished the drop and lift it shook yet everything worked together to hold it all up. Once the entire layout was finished it was pretty stable. I don't think the connection at the ground was sturdy enough for mine...it created a triangle the the joint was more of a hinge.

Nice to see an actual coaster with them...

You know, if needs be, once it's completed, you can add extra support to the thing. If it runs fine without it, then re-supporting it would make it run just perfectly.

I still love your room.

Enjoy.

^^It will be on the same side as the rest of the ride. The top of the bückel won't be parallel to the lift, so there will be plenty of room left for the lead-out. Especially since the lead-out will suddenly twist the other way into a downwards turn into (probably) a hill.

^I try to support it right from the start. This way I can see the speed that's left better. I still need to lube my train(s) though.

And thanks, lol. My room really goes well with my knex... or is it the other way around? :D

I understand that, it makes sense. Mainly it's a suggestion, as, in a way, you are testing using a different style of supports, and as such I say it's still possible to re-support if needed.

Aww, who knows. The paint scheme is just so, well, calming, in a word. And not only that, but you have a window almost directly over your bed. Free skylight ?

Har Har Har.

Enjoy.

Ajjj... the train doesn't make it to the top of the bückel. I think the main reason is that the transition from overbank to bückel is rather rough, caused by multiple flaws (like a tubing switch).

What am I going to do? I will probably have less time, since there will be exams next week. I will try to strengthen the track in certain areas and redo the tubing. I am afraid I will have to lower the bückel after all...

Well, that's the problem with twisty coasters.

^I have lubed the cars.

I haven't been working on this one a lot lately. The spot between the overbank and the bückel gave me a headache. It was very bumpy, also because one of the tubing rails is cut there. So I changed it, now the cut is in a right spot. I will be trying to build a new bückel in there.
