^^after 7 or 8 runs, the black wheel casings started to get little scratches on them. and the sound was pretty annoying.
^ i don't see why that wouldn't work. and with gumps piece count, i'm sure he can fill down a few...hundred.lol.

I know this is a big bump. Here's a video on my automated ones.
Because the rail is pressed up, the coaster hits the orange parts less.
Material does come off onto the train, but you can just rub it off.

Guess I got some time around my hands.
The motor is a bit misplaced though, but that's because of the limited space I have.

Not sure if I should start a new topic on this?

Here's the short tut:

To start off, this is based on the original hidden friction brakes from KCB Designs. The model is "cut in half" to show the added mechanism but does not show complete look with track.
As it is cut in half, the missing side is identical/mirrored to the other.

The length of the brakes can be changed to your liking, just extend the bottom 'pipe' with more rods. Alternating from 3 and 9 o'clock to 4.30 and 7.30 o'clock.
Don't use the top spaces as it won't be able to close/open that far enymore.

The motor isn't put in the right position. This is because it's based on the construction I actually use. (See the final picture, the motor has little space.)
The good thing about this is that the gears are pushed together.

I did something similar when I attempted to make my own brakes with some inspiration from these brakes, but mine were manual, and didn't stop the car very nicely...
