Okay, I was just making sure. That is weird that they are the same height, pullout length and everything, I didn't realize that!

Hey guys, I finished the cobra roll for the most part. Bad news though, it doesn't make it past the top of the second half loop, and it's not even close. I have tried and tried multiple times to help it make it, but nothing has worked. I made it lower a few times, and I refuse to make it any lower. I don't like the look of the cobra roll either. I was thinking about making an immelmann instead, I think it would flow better and look better. My mom is also getting a bit frustrated that I can't get to my bed very well, and making an immelmann would make it much easier. Give me your opinions, but I think I am going to go with the immelmann.

The half loop looks nice, but I think you should lower the middle. Then you can unbank it too.

Your 2 half corks are probably part of the problem. Like Ben's on Redline, it needs a lot less banking. Also, B&M's don't really go all the way to 90 degrees on the twist, like there's a slight turn in there.

i think it would be cool if you angled the pullout of the exit of the cobra roll and then do a zero-g roll through the loop. anyone think that is a good idea? other than that, this is looking amazing.

That cobra roll doesn't look too good... Its too wide, and sidewinder sits too far up. Since ours loops were the same size. Here is what shaping should look more like..Posted Image

Thanks for the advice guys, I will fix those issues. Still though, it doesn't make it, and mine is the same height as MCM's. I don't know why, and I really don't want to lower it. It doesn't hit any crossties, nor does it shake. I guess I will have to lower it, but do you guys not like the immelmann idea?

A batwing would look kick-ass and original. An immelmann is kinda boring to see again.

^I would definitely do a batwing, that was one of my ideas, but I don't have enough space. It would hit the wall, thanks though!

Okay, I redid the cobra roll, and I think it looks much better. It still doesn't have enough speed to come close to clearing the second part though. Here are some pictures.

Give me your opinions & advice, and if you think I should do an immelmann or not. If you have an even cooler element that you think would fit there, post it too!

Try weighing your trains if you haven't. Weight and great supports can really do a whole lot. I still think there needs to be less banking in the middle though.

are you just lettin it go down the pre-drop by itself?
How bout putting it on the chain and actually letting the motor push it down. It might have enough force to get more speed to make the cr.

Weight and re-lube the trains. If you haven't done either yet I guarentee it will make it.

I'd like to see a zero-g roll somewhere in there. I like them.:D

Edit: Be sure to lube those trains, even if you did it within the last couple weeks.

I have weighted each car with 20 pennies, and none of the supports move much at all. I have installed the 2 ATTV motors, set them on high, and let them push the train over the top, and my finger in the last picture is where it gets to. I actually have it banked at the least it can be in the middle, or else it hits the crossties, and it slows it even more.

I have done pretty much all that I can do to help it, and nothing has done much at all. I am afraid that if I proceed with this cobra roll, I will have to lower it to an ugly height, and I won't have enough speed for the rest of the layout. :sdd

EDIT: ^I just lubed the trains a few days ago. They are also weighted. You're in luck, a zero-g is next!

Hows about you ditch the Cobra Roll and do something else?

Such as a wrap-around immelman...
