Hey, ULTRA MEGA BUMP.

After two years, I have decided to continue on with this thing!
It's getting a fresh coat of paint, and some major upgrades.

Starting with brand new rolling stock!

I'm going to start painting the car tonight, when it cools down a bit.

This is only two days worth of work, so I should update pretty frequently.

Comments/questions are more than welcome, they're requested!

Edit:

Hey, I just noticed that this thread is in the wrong sub-section.
Who should I contact to remedy this misplacement?

And my parents think K'nex coasters are too big...

Looks great to me, and so far looks like it's going great (not like I would really know much about this stuff). About the whole moving the thread to a new topic deal, contact any of the staff and they should help you out somehow.

Looking pretty awesome! Let's get one of these things done completely. Really a great looking car. Most homemade attempts have nothing like that.

Thanks BGT!
I see a lot of people attempt these types of things, and the most common mistake I've seen is starting with a track, and then building a car around it.

By building the car first, you are more likely to understand what you can and can't do with some 2x4's and screws, and are less likely to become overly ambitious in regards to track design (ie: attempting loops with PVC pipe!?) and end up canceling.

Besides, what fun is it to build a track, and not be able to test ride it every time you add two more feet...hehe. :)

Hey, I wonder if this thing qualifies for the "New Train of Thought" summer heat contest? It has a custom car, and it can be as large as I like....lol j/k....maybe.

It's nice to see a new member interested in something other than k'nex. This is awesome, I love backyard roller coasters and I'll be following this thread for a new update ;)

I see no reason you could not enter Summer Heat if you got this done. Unless explicitly stated, the contests are open for any types of coaster models.

BGT, The deadline is August 27th right? I'm gonna have to have it finished by the 25th, because that's when I leave for college. (I'm attending Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, if anyone wants to know.)

I'm thinking of a name, maybe "Red Comet"...

If anyone has name suggestions for this beast, I would like to hear them.

Thanks for looking!
As always comments/questions are appreciated.
