I have made my own log flume over the past couple of days! It was mostly inpired by SwimZone's Flume ride. I took the advice he gave and it worked out great!

I used plastic sheeting to hold the water. (Duct Tape there failed...epically)

WTF, what a copy. There's no difference between the 2. You didn't even take SZ's advice. Next time you make something "Inspired" I wouldn't use the same exact way done before.

Yah...make the TRACK deeper, add more weight to that, there's no splash. Make the Flume More hollow to add weights to, I could go on...

A real log ride doesn't even have hardly any water going down the drop.

A real log ride doesn't even have hardly any water going down the drop.

Yes, I am aware of that, Its hard to make it everything about exactly resemble a real log flume.

Any sugestions on the lift?
Coastermaniac was nice enought to draw this for me.

Posted Image
but im not sure how I would do that.

To add another touch of realism, Im Might try to support this with tubes. Advice?

Uhhhh..... What?

I think I get it... But that is WAY too complicated and unrealistic. I still want there to be realism, Theres just minor details that cant be fixed. The diverence from a conveyor belt/lift to A huge ferris wheel lift thing is... well... large.
Thanks for the input though.

Any other suggestions?

I have a idea but it wouldn't work for your design. It would work for a log flume, not a water drop ride like this.

I think it's simple. First you build a few wheels (beside each other) IN the flume. Then you build two chains on both sides next to the flume. On the chains are 90° connectors placed. On two 90° connectors is a rod connected. Then you make the chain up and place a gear where it must stop. You connect it to a motor and your lift is created.

What it does: the car ( ship?) comes and the wheels push it up on the grey rods which are connected with the 90° connectors to the chain, which is placed on those gears, which are powered by a motor so your chain goes up.

I think it would work ;)

Thats how it is on the flume at my local park. Exept at the top there is a few tires to get it moving again. The water falls out into a big water pool at the bottem, near the tire and then is pumped up to the top near the top tires.

Connect the wheels with gears to the main chains so you only need one motor.
The wheels need to be very small and low because the boat must go up the wheels, those push the up to the chain with rods.

"Oh my gosh, it's the ICE CREAM MAN!!!"

"I have gas,
don't flame me for that!"

Yah...that balsa needs weight, use a drill press the width of a quarter, and put quarters in underneath, otherwise it won't go anywhere. Make sure it doesn't sink though. I may try this again, just so I can show how it's done.

i loled at the ice cream man...

and a bit overkill at the end of the run dontcha think?

And it does need wieght but not too much, or it will sink...

Also replace the half moons holding the duct tape with snowflakes and connect the half moons to that and have the duct tape going from the top of the half moons to the green rods. This will make the flume deeper, and will make a splash... make the start of the hill longer and let the flow of the warter settle and then drop, so it isnt spraying everywhere.

And make your car like this:
____________
l................./
l__________l

meh, thats how splash water falls has it.

Maybe you could invent a K'NEX waterpump first. That would be nice.
