I guess this will be my first trip report ever on this site, but it will be interesting for you all to read. BTW, this isn't my first time at CP. I went with my bro and cousin on Thursday for the first day, and we got to the park at about 8:30. I originally took the train from Toronto to Windsor, where we were then picked up by my cousin 4 hours late because he was doing a fucking triathlon. In the mean time my brother and I hit up Caesar's casino, which is a huge and very fancy casino. I only had 30 Canadian dollars on me and I lost it in Blackjack pretty quickly. My brother played poker and was up for a while, but then lost most of it by the time we left to my cousin's house in Michigan. The three of us drove to CP in the morning. It took us around 2 hours and 15 minutes to get there. After dropping off our stuff at Hotel Breakers, we joined the pack waiting to bolt to Maverick as soon as the gates opened.

[Day 1]

As soon as they opened the gate, we ripped it to Maverick, passing every person and family who tried to get there first. I really underestimated the distance to Maverick and just sprinted as opposed to jogging which my brother and cousin did. I was pretty out of breath and feeling nauseous, but I walked in with the others ahead of everyone to get the first train of the day. Maverick is simply an amazing ride that never lets up, is incredibly smooth and has awesome airtime. The Stengel dives were easily my favorite part, next to the twisted horseshoe roll and the launch. I was hesitant to put it past MF, but I think it takes the cake. After getting off, we saw the line was still short, so we went again with a 10-15 minute wait. I went the long way around, trying to recover from my now increased nausea, so I ended up as a single rider while my brother and cousin rode before me. (Note: single rider line is bullshit, just join the regular line).

It was still early entry hour, so we went over to MF and coasted over the 310 foot lift in only 15 minutes worth of waiting. It was more disappointing than I remember it, but then I realized it was because I was near the back of the train, which I never really enjoyed as much as the front. Surprisingly, it seemed slower there as well. Nonetheless it was still an outstanding coaster and is not overrated by any means.

Now came 10am, which meant that TTD was about to open so we headed over to see a nice straight line outside the entrance up to the station. There were mechanical problems during testing, but everything was fixed within 5 minutes of us getting in the line. We waited only 20 minutes after the line moved inside the queue and the other trains completed testing. TTD is by far the most exhilarating ride at the park. The incredible acceleration, speed and height makes its short ride time worth waiting for. I've never seen a disappointed face from a single rider coming back off the brake run, and it's with good reason. It seems to be the park favorite for many people.

After TTD, we headed back down to Mantis for a credit. There was a 10 minute wait and we just jumped onto the first available seats, which were in the middle of the train. The first half of the ride up until the MCBR is actually pretty smooth and easygoing on the legs. Everything after makes your legs feel as if they are about to explode from the strong positive g's. I usually lift my feet off the floor to ease the pain and get the blood going back up. It makes the twister section a little rough, but it's worth it. Personally, I'm not a fan of stand-ups. I never got the impression that standing up added to the ride experience in any way. I actually think it makes it worse.

After Mantis, we were getting hungry, but decided to suck it up and get in line for Raptor. It was the longest wait of the day.....30 minutes!!! Yeah, the park seemed pretty dead, which you will see I took great advantage of in the final ride count. Raptor is one of those coasters which you need to experience in the front seat. Thanks to 4 across seating from B&M, we only had to wait a couple extra rides before getting on. As I was waiting, I noticed trains being sent with entire rows empty, which is completely ridiculous. Some of those employees are completely incompetent. Anyways, I think Raptor has to be the smoothest ride in the park. Every single element was pain free even without holding on to the grips. It is a very well paced and flowing ride that gives you time to enjoy each element as it comes. When you're in the front row, it feels like you have total control of the train, which I didn't find that I got from other coasters. I can easily see why Raptor sometimes has the longest line the park.

Finally came lunch at around 1:30. My cousin and I went to the Midway Market buffet, and my brother had a Sub. I first made myself a huge salad with all kinds of stuff on it. I didn't think the food would be good, but I was really impressed. They even had those amazing cherry tomatoes. I couldn't eat a lot since I hadn't eaten in a long time, so I had nachos with cheese and then ice cream to finish it off. It was definitely above my expectations, and came at a good price of $12, which is very good for an amusement park.

Next up was what I like to call the dizzying let's get ready to yak section of the park featuring Wicked Twister and maXair. I don't know how smart of an idea that was right after eating. There was no line up for Wicked Twister so we rode it 3 times in a row. All I have to say is that CP employees can be assholes. They bitched at us for going through the queue bars to go back on, instead of walking around to the entrance when nobody else was joining the line. And even if there were people, the ride was a damn walk-on! Anyways, Wicked Twister is a fantastic coaster that deserves more recognition. The launch is very powerful and I always get the feeling that the train is going to move off the track at the top. I love that pause before reversing direction and continuously accelerating both forward and backward through the station. Seating position can make a big difference on this ride. After that we went straight to maXair, for which we only waited 1 ride cycle before getting on. For some reason, these Giant Frisbee rides are the only spinning rides that make me really dizzy. maXair had some great height though and offers a nice cutting wind to cool you off during what felt like a hot furnace outside. It has a nice ride time and brings you up to the peak several times before successively decreasing height.

Next we hit up Magnum, which was a walk-on. I sat in the row right behind the ejector row because there were 2 rides wait for it. The first drop is really heart wrenching with those loose ratchet restraints. They let you get some nice air time before tightening up at the pull-out. The ride seemed a bit rockier than I remember it. I don't really care for its layout, especially with those brakes right in front of the pretzel turn. The bunny hills are definitely a classic thrill though. Before riding Magnum my brother and I split from my cousin, but we headed to Mean Streak to meet up with him again.

Little did we know the three of us were about to become victims of THE WORST RIDE AT CEDAR POINT. That was the last time I am ever going to ride Mean Streak. I don't know what they did to it since last season other than add those wood boards down the middle of the track, but this ride felt like I was getting the shit kicked out of me. It is so damn rough, I thought I was in some kind of industrial vibrating machine. Every drop I saw, I thought my rib cage was going to crack and I hoped something would stop this long and painful ride. To add to it, I smelled burning wood the entire way, which I honestly hoped someone was trying to light this thing on fire, but I ended up getting 10 times more nauseous from it in the end. No wonder this piece of crap was a walk-on, the 850,000 people who rode it last year are probably the 850,000 people who won't be in line for it this year. Mean Streak occupies a huge space, which could definitely be used for a new ride. It wouldn't be a loss at all, especially if something like El Toro came in its place, or a B&M flyer.

After that, I limped over to Gemini, which was a walk-on as well. My brother and cousin hit the red train, and I got in the blue train. Other than the slight bumps here and there, Gemini is pretty smooth and has a nice layout. There's some whiplash in that final abrupt helix, but surprisingly it wasn't even rough. After we got off, it was 3 o'clock and my cousin headed home, because he had been extremely busy launching his new business. That, and we had pretty well been on all the big coasters at least once. I took a small break in the hotel to recover from Mean Streak. It started to rain outside for 20 minutes before the blazing heat was back up. Talk about good timing on everything. Avoided the rain and getting shafted by TTD breaking down as you'll read below.

My brother and I continued riding as many coasters as possible up until closing time. I was eating a lot of ice cream and drinking lots of coke to keep me from getting hungry, but we ended up sitting down and eating chicken fingers with fries to fill up. By the last hour and a half before closing, the park was practically dead. Raptor had a walk-on the rest of the night, which was awesome. My brother and I split up for an hour, because he wanted to ride maXair a bunch of times, and even one ride on maXair was too much for me. We ended up getting a front row ride on TTD, a night ride on MF and the 2nd last ride of TTD for the night. This was easily the best day I've had at CP. Only thing that would've made it better, was if we had remembered to pick up booze at duty-free and do some drunk night riding. I could smell booze off half the people in line then.

[Day 2]

I'll try to keep this one short. The day started off similar to the first day, and we got the second ride on Maverick in the front row. We then headed to MF after for 2 rides in a row. The line got even shorter after that (about half of the length of the black gate), but we decided to continue on to TTD. We were lucky enough to get the last ride before it broke down for over 3 hours. The interesting part is that the attendants were calling for 2 riders in a row of empty seats because other groups of people were waiting to get on the same train. After we got off, the park started to get really crowded. We headed to Raptor only to find the wait was marked at an hour and a half, so we lined up 25 minutes to ride Blue Streak instead. I forgot how smooth and exciting Blue Streak was. It is a great classic Woodie, with nice airtime hills all the way through. Next we rode Wild Cat after a 15 minute wait. I hadn't bothered to ride it before, but it was very smooth and had some big drops. I think I rode Demon Drop after that, which wasn't bad. It's a unique ride experience rolling onto your back after dropping vertically. The queue was empty for that as usual. I did Cedar Creek Mine Ride for the first time following Demon Drop, which was fairly disappointing. Just rode it for the credit.

My brother and I were aiming to take the 2:10 bus back to Detroit to get to my cousin's house, but the idiot cab driver we called for 1:30 to take us to the station never showed up, so we were at CP until 6:00. I figured I rode everything enough times by then; we were also going to go wake boarding and water skiing for the rest of the day on my cousins boat, had we got on the 2:10 bus. Instead we woke up early the next morning (today!) and went for a couple hours. Anyhow, to kill time, we went to the Soak City water park for about 2 hours. It's not the best water park, but then again, no one comes to Cedar Point for the water park. There was still 2 hours left until the cab came for 6:00 to take us to the bus station for the 7:10 bus. My brother was done by then, but I headed back into the park straight for MF, which surprisingly had a fairly short line considering the massive lines for some of the other coasters. I waited 30 minutes and managed to get into the front seat while waiting for the second row. I saw some guy was a single rider and he was cool with me riding in the front with him. I would never wait for the front otherwise, the second row is almost the same. But this is the MF ride I remember, with the wind blasting tears from your face, looking over the whole 300 foot 80* drop from the top of the lift, and getting nice floater air from the hills as well. Pure speed and exhilaration. I jumped in line for TTD after, but after 5 minutes I realized I was leaving in 20 minutes, so I got out of the line and headed to the hotel to get everything ready.

My cousin picked us up from the Detroit bus station and we got back to his house at 11:00, just in time to get a decent sleep and wake up to a couple hours of water sports early in the morning before heading to the Windsor train station back to Toronto. Overall, this was my best experience at CP. I may even be going back next week for a day with a some friends of mine who have never been before.

And the final ride count for a day and a quarter of coaster riding:

Maverick: x3
Millennium Force: x7
TTD: x5
Raptor: x3
Wicked Twister: x5
Demon Drop: x1
maXair: x1
Iron Dragon: x1
Wild Cat: x1
Mantis: x1
Magnum XL-200: x1
Gemini: x1
Cedar Creek Mine Ride: x1
Mean Streak: x1
Blue Streak: x1
Power Tower: x1

Edit: That took a long time to write, so comment!

sounds like you had a nice time! I wish I lived close enough to go to an amusment park. The closest one to me in 2 1/2 hours away and my parents never want to drive. Once I get my licence I am getting a Season Pass to SFNE.
