Good evening/morning/afternoon!

After looking at dozens of forums about track strengtheners and "the strongest track", I think it's best to ask you guys on your opinion and experience with strong, stable SS tracks!

I'm looking forward to building my first official B&M Coaster, and because of this i'm wondering what methods of track you guys like to do!

There are two main types i've been trying out (of course): flexi rods and grey rods.

For famous knex coasters such as Koloss and Scorpion's Tail, I see them using full on grey rods.

ONE MAIN QUESTION IS: Do grey rods stay bent after being in a curved position for weeks?

Appreciate your insight, thoughts, and experience with stable strong tracks!

Well I had them up on Gargantuan and they were curved and shaped for months some of them (quite a few days outside as well) and I was pleasantly surprised to find that they went right back to their original shape afterwards. The thing to remember is that these rods do have some inherent flexibility designed into them. Same with other parts of K'nex. In some official K'nex models, there are bent pieces (see the half moons in the original K'nex coaster round the loop) that may flex perhaps a little more with time after the model is built but that happens anyway. Obiviously there are limitations for using grey rods in the track with really sharp corners and intricate shaping but in general, your tracks will be a lot smoother and stronger for them. Good luck with your B&M.

I've only used gray rods on straightaways, since most of my builds include sharp turns (including one of my most recent plans). If you're going to have tight bends or complex elements like cobra rolls, use flexis.

Yes, grey rods will stay slightly bent after being curved for many hours or weeks on end. You should ofcourse switch to whatever rod is most suitable to the radius of the curve you're working with.
