What kind of propulsions systems are there?
As far as I know:

Standard in Knex roller coaster sets:
- Chain lift
- Two sided Spinning wheels

And another idea:
- Bottom sided wheel: Knex building instructions | Toy Roller Coasters (building instructions)

But are there more systems to drive a roller coaster?

A wheel on the car itself. Its used in some real coasters (The one with the longest coaster train has it). Would be possible with knex by making a second kind of railing next to the track, but the car would be to heavy...

I assume that Revolution at Bobbejaanland has the longest train, and it hasn't a weel on the car.
these arend really propulsion sytyms but they transfer the car tho somewhere else
vertical Lift : Gump's Bobsled
Tilt system : Steelspectrum's Invertigo
Round About lift: Rightwaytrey's Round about lift

The "Jesper" launch you're thinking of was designed by Jesperdude.

BGEurope and I have both made elevator lifts. There are also spiral lifts--I believe the first one was on Gump's Doomsday Machine, correct?

^Nope, Roller Coaster Kid (known for his woodies) made a spiral lift on his Zamperla Volare.
