Since my parachute drop didn't quite work out as planned, I'm starting a new flat ride that I hope to enter into Summer Heat this year.

I hope you can this time get as far as telling us what you are building before cancelling.

I agree with Suck, don't just cancel things when you bump into the first problem. I guess this is not going to be a Star Flyer :)?

Never heard of this, but nope, not right.

I hope you can this time get as far as telling us what you are building before cancelling.

It was canceled not for the fact that it couldn't be done, because I did get the parachutes working. When it's bumped into and falls over into a mess of fishing line and K'nex, I'm not rebuilding that.

Nope.

Seems like I did trick quite a few of you.... Maybe this'll help you out.

I never said you cancelled it because it couldn't be done. Not that it makes you look better that lazyness is your reason for cancelling anyways.

Breakdance or something like that, the center piece being quite big though. Another thing that came to mind was the Mondial Swinger. But nah.

^ You're very very close. Not the Mondial Swinger, but more like Breakdance. However, this one is themed to a real ride in a very well-known park.

The jig is up, I'm recreating the Mad Tea Party from Disney World. I know things are out of proportions with the scenery and all, I haven't finished the cups, but I'm getting there. By the looks of it, I plan to be finished by Sunday the latest. The orignal ride has a roof, but I'm not including that.

I'm wondering how it's going to be able to fold up and transport?

I didn't choose the band life, the band life chose me.

Nice. Love how the moving floor rotates underneath the stationary edge.

Thanks!

I'm wondering how it's going to be able to fold up and transport?

I've just attempted it and It's not a nice fit. This won't be entered into SH, but a very similar model using the same principles as this one will be (once I make it)

Nice. Love how the moving floor rotates underneath the stationary edge.

Thanks! Felt like that would give it a better look, and make the seats not so high up compared to ground level. Luckily, I was able to get the gap to be so little, not even a blue spacer can fit through it, but there's no catching or sticking in the last half hour it's been running.

Well, this ride's actually finished. I was going to add a bit more theming, but I decided that it's not really worth it (I felt like the gigantic tea pot was enough). I'm putting together a video of the ride working, and the workings of the ride. In the mean time, enjoy these final photos!

Added about x2 times more green rods than in the last update.

The little "cups". I prefer them to be all K'Nex rather than paper or other materials, and I don't think they're too bad. You can fix a Lego person into it!

The giant tea cup looks very good, but honestly I'm not a big fan of the small ones. They looks out of proportion and somewhat unrealistic. It would be awesome if you take your time to make a better design for these :).
Great job on this ride though!

Sorry, If I had enough green connectors, I'd make the cups out of them. However, I can't make them too big or else they'll crash into eachother during the rotations (because of the spacing between cups on each turntable). I am going to keep this thread alive by making the ride the real "Twister" version, and those cars will be much more accurate since I'm starting with them first.

It'll be transportable, but in somewhat big sections. No one said wide loads weren't allowed! :P I might be entering 2 models into the competition, depending on how the next flatride works.

Thanks. I did try to make it as simple as possible so it can be fixed as easily as possible, and because the cleaner, the better!

Like I said, this thread will be kept in use for the upcoming flatride which follows a very similar design, but will be much much much more compact than this ride (and will be easier to transport). Also, the ride, called Mad Tea Party, is posted in the database. A video is being edited as you most likely read this.

EDIT: I've also documented each step of the ride so it can be rebuilt for my school's Celebration of the Arts. The "K'Nex models" section is increasing along with the space I get, so this will be put in as a new addition since the one flatride we had seemed very popular.

Hopefully this will meet the specifications!

Transport took only a few hours for the two construction workers, and I was there to document all their work! Warning: lots of photos (32), so the page may be slow to load.

First, the cars were taken off
Posted Image

and put into the truck
Posted Image

along with the cars. Guess we can't say they're careful....
Posted Image

Then the lamp-posts were taken down
Posted Image

and put away.
Posted Image

Then the handle and spout of the large tea pot was put in the truck.
Posted Image

And the gigantic tea pot came down
Posted Image

Posted Image

And we can't forget about the control booth.
Posted Image

They're pretty efficient.
Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

The top went on
Posted Image

and we can't forget the ladders!
Posted Image

Truck One loaded and ready to go!
Posted Image

Posted Image

But here comes the second truck, looking a bit different.
Posted Image

Hmm, nice flat bed. Good for moving a lot of the floors, I guess.
Posted Image

Yuuup, floors indeed.
Posted Image

Truck 2- Floors and floor supports
Posted Image

Truck 3- More Floors
Posted Image

Truck 4- Gearing
Posted Image

Progress by now.
Posted Image

Truck 5- Turntable supports/framework
Posted Image

Down to almost nothing!
Posted Image

Truck 6- The remaining gear and some foundation
Posted Image

Truck 7- More foundation.
Posted Image

Truck 8- Final foundation.
Posted Image

And off into the sunset it goes.....
Posted Image

Now, what to do.
