To me it was a tie between Leviathan and Balrog, with Flash as a close second. Finally went with flash, because I couldn't decide wether to choose Leviathan or Balrog. It's just TOO hard now :o

No offence to Gump or anything but other than the size of Balrog there really wasn't that much special about it. Leviathan was a pretty good recreation and like many have already said, Jumpage deserves to win a contest.

I understand they were all great coasters and the sentiment to have someone else win, but to say there wasn't much special about Balrog other than the size is not really a fair assessment. The hybrid construction of a boxed backbone with tube supports was very unique. The transfer track shed and the station automation and theming were fantastically elaborate. The shaping on all the elements was perfect. And the size, well size does matter, and building that big and moving it to a new location is a very impressive feat.

Maybe Gump has just wowed everyone for too long to appreciate just how special this build was.

Comet Recreation still underway.

Proof you never grow up if you keep playing with toys!

Sounds very familiar to when people said Diamondback wasn't hard to build and that anyone could build it if they had the pieces. Glad to know that nothing changes... =/

Gump reincarnated. I have begun to like Diamondback more and more over the years. I wasn't a fan in the beginning either.

Maybe Gump has just wowed everyone for too long to appreciate just how special this build was.

This could be the case. My problem is that I'm so 'old' and that I can only build about one project per year. That way I have to keep the attention so much longer than the usual builder on this site.

^yeah you are old.... I have a shirts older than you.

I'll be lucky if I finish the coaster I started last year in less than 12 months, but I don't touch it for months at a time

What I've seen happen is that people don't give shit about lights or digital control.

^ Ummm, we do? I think they are amazing. Although I could say its easier for us that don't do it to not know how hard it is.

Sorry for that blunt post, but in all fairness, it doesn't seem to be a major deal anymore as people tend to look more towards the general model than the details that are put into it. I tend to read into a model when I see a model I'm not totally familiar with, if I see the effort put into model it sure is a big plus.

Hence the single quotes. It just bums me out that I can only build about one model each year.

^^That's me stuffed then. I'm sure sometime soon I'll get round to scenery and automation and stuff like that. For now I'm pretty happy with a model that works and goes round without any assistance. It's still just as satisfying right now just to see it working. I think I'll try a bit harder and take a bit longer to do my next coaster though now I have more pieces to work with.

These results were rigged! Just kidding, I voted for Balrog. Spectacular job Jogumpie, I felt that Balrog deserved to win.

Well done Gump. No huge surprise but I thought Leviathan would have been a bit closer. Either way, they're both great coasters.
